So I have these pedals, and needed a board.
I don't like velcro, so I decided to use the bottom plate screws to hold the pedals down. I took some measurements, and started drilling an aluminum plate.
And that allowed me to screw the pedals to the plate.
I left enough room for my tuner, but I'm not sure I like it enough to mount it. I may use a different brand - perhaps a TC or Korg.
I went through a few different designs, and settled on this one.
Kept busy doing some wiring while the glue was curing.
Test wired everything up to make sure it works.
I'm using a 9 volt power supply, 3 amp, for the time being. I know that daisy chaining power between pedals can sometime cause issues, but I'm trying to keep costs down.
Everything seems to fit and work.
I rounded over the bottom edges of the case, and slapped on a couple of coats of Duratex.
Screwed on some corners and feet.
And it's ready for use.

Got these two guys, and I'm probably picking up an Octave Deluxe sometime in the next few months. The Bass OD is good for right now, not sure how long I'm going to keep it though.

I thought the Bass OD was solid, but there are better options. It seemed like a well made solid state amp distortion to me. Didn't beat out my B3K, which had a more tube-like sound to me. (Yes, this is hotly debated. That's MY opinion!) Anyway, it should serve you well enough, I just didn't need it to fill anything at the time and my B3K did everything I needed, so out it went.

I'm actually thinking about replacing it with the B3K. Probably won't happen for a while though; getting a VMT sometime soon as an "always on" low gain thing, and the MXR is serving me well enough for now. We'll see what happens when I get the funds for another Darkglass pedal.
It is a very good overdrive, if you like dark and strong. It doesn't really do subtle and light.

Hey guys, I just got an M288 Bass Octave Deluxe in the mail today. Sounds great on its own, but I'm having a small issue: when I activate both the Octave Deluxe and the Bass Overdrive, I get a quiet gurgling sound coming from the amp. I don't get this sound when I use either pedal on its own. The pitch and volume of gurgle are affected by the drive knob on the OD, as well as the Growl and Girth knobs on the Octave Deluxe. I posted a sound clip below. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this, and if there's anything I can do to fix it?
Signal chain is Bass (Fender Marcus Miller Signature) > Bass Octave Deluxe > Bass Overdrive > Hartke A25. Pedals are daisy chained and connected to a 1Spot.

The first thing I'd try is to run the pedals with batteries, just to see if the issue is being caused by the power supply. Though in my limited experience, MXR seems to be pretty resilient to power supply issues. It could be some kind of interaction with the 1Spot.
The MXR Bass OverDrive is probably messing with the signal, the Octaver is putting out a lot of frequency range and the overdrive is probably at a high gain setting. Welcome to the MXR Bass Overdrive dissatisfaction club! It's got a few serious problems that have to be dialled out to make the pedal play well with other pedals.
Try these settings:
Octave: Dry - 2 o'clock, Growl - 10 o'clock, Girth - 2 o'clock. These setting will dial back the octave a bit and leave a lot of bass in the mix.
Bass Overdrive: Clean - 5 o'clock, Volume - 10 o'clock, Tone - 5 o'clock, Drive - 8 o'clock. The 5 o'clock setting is basically max to the right, the labelling and settings on this pedal are confusing and misleading. These settings give me a really mild overdrive on the edge of breakup, while retaining the bass mix and tone. There's still a little EQ in there, but that's the most natural setting I've found and I really like it. I just wish it went a little brighter. If you want more blood curdling sound, dial in more drive...but be gentle with it. In my opinion, OD should be subtle and fuzz should be outrageous. So don't confuse this with a fuzz pedal. Light break up and chordals are great with this pedal. I don't really understand the tone or clean controls...the tone goes from slightly coloured (far right) to dark muddy and useless with just a slight movement to the left. The clean control does pretty much the same and would be better served with a true blend or bass. In fact a vol in and vol out with mid sweet filter would make this a killer pedal. The Overdrive is great....just let down by the other controls. With these settings, it plays great with other pedals and stacks really well with other dirt too. Sorry for the long post and rable...just venting over this particular pedal. The Bass Octaver is great, but if you want it to play well with other pedals, you'll have to reign it in a lot and play it as a traditional octaver instead of a funky stunt bass effect.
Apologies...I've just heard your recording....yep, that aint right! I'd send them off to MXR, sounds like some of the internals are out of spec.

Might give this a shot, though I don't think it's an issue with the 1Spot. I tried with a different power supply and I had the same issue.
No worries! I'll get in touch with MXR and see what they say. I will most likely be replacing the Overdrive with a B3K by the end of the year, so if it'll cost me I may just wait on that. I don't think I'll use the OD and the Octave Deluxe together that much between now and then anyway.

I recently snagged a 6-Band to EQ a little more brightness into my upright for slap tones, and a Bass Fuzz Deluxe to...um...make fuzz 
Digging both of them quite well. Used to have a blue 6-Band I bought in 1977, and the new one is much better because the sliders have LED's and there's an on-off switch.

Had a Phase 90 and M80 in the past, currently have a BOD and an M81. Apart from the solid build and the "just plain work" aspect of MXR, I really appreciate the footswitch height, oddly. Some other pedals put the the switch at the same height as the knobs, and in some cases, in the same proximity, making switching a bit touchy. MXR switches are always well in the clear and a solid on and off.
