Sound is of course personal, depends on what you want and how it works with you other gear. For me, I think the MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe is too subtle, too dark, and it has a bit of a bass boost. In my opinion these things work against the chorus effect and makes it less audible in the mix. The pedal has a flanger mode which is a bonus, but I don't use that. I've replaced mine with a Tech 21 Bass Boost Chorus - more expensive, bigger, but much more versatile.

As stated, it is all relative, but I use to have and use a bass chorus deluxe. I mostly used it as a flanger. The chorus was way too dark for my tastes and, again as stated, was completely lost in the mix. What was said above was all together true for me IME as well. It is a nice pedal but it just didn't work for me and my tastes and set up. It didn't shimmer like I think a choirs should. I wanted to replace it with a boost chorus or the corona by TC as well but haven't yet. It worked well with playing chords as well. I traded mine for a BF3 in the end.

Have you tried the M-234 Analog Chorus? You can cut bass and/or treble freqs (not sure what the cutoffs are), and I've found that to be good for keeping the low end in and subtley detuned while leaving my upper-register stuff wetter. It took me a while to get the right mix, but I happen to love it now.

Oh, and to the mod: can I get a # perchance?

First off, no number required, but I have the following: m87 bass compressor, m84 bass fuzz deluxe, and an M169 carbon copy.

The CC is my newest MXR pedal, and for those of you who use it I would like help understanding how you like to use it. To me, it's redeeming qualities are a bass chorus effect of sorts, without the warble that comes with chorus pedals. For help on my situation, Our band is currently all rock covers, from Hendrix to The Black Keys.
