I love MXR pedals, for guitar and bass. Have gotten rid of a few, though, as I only keep around what is on my board. I have had the Carbon Copy longer than any other pedal I own - in continuous use for 5 or 6 years at this point.

Currently own:

I have an old Phase 90 that I bought in the late '70s. Found it in my garage, with a 30 year-old battery. Going to solder a new battery lead on it and see if it still has any of my old disco bass lines stored inside. It has the block logo but I believe it has the same circuit as the "legendary" script logo versions. I dunno, sounded good to me at the time.

Now I have room for the Morley volume pedal, and 5 more MXR pedals on the second row. I've got the polytune2 just velco'd into place, hoping that MXR will make a tuner at some point.

Very happy with my current setup. Almost exclusively MXR, but it's not based on simple blind faith. I've gone though scores of different pedals - mass produced and boutique - and this is where I've ended up.

Without the MXR MC406 buffer in front, the board sounds just fine - no loss of signal to my ears compared to straight into the amp (the Radial Boost at the end has a Class-A buffer). With the MXR buffer in the equation, however, there is definitely a broader tone spectrum even compared to going straight into the amp. Maybe it's the double buffer effect between the MXR and the Radial. Definite like regardless! I'll be using it even when I'm only running a tuner between my bass and amp.

The Bass Octave Deluxe has been with me for only a few days. Still getting used to it. I know most people would say to place it earlier in the chain, but there are times when I will just take the bottom board to a gig (my "board" is two Pedaltrain Nanos) with the tuner, comp, Pork and switching out the octave for the Carbon Copy. I'd only run the Pork Loin clean, if at all, before the BOD. Comp will always be on and with the buffer, the BOD gets a really strong signal where it's at.

There's a good thread on here about how to get the best octave pedal results (Invalid Link Removed). I really like Mosfed's advice about "playing to the strengths of the pedal." There is definitely a technique and certain basslines that are best suited to this pedal. Overall, I love the tone compared to my previous MicroPog and truth be told, I don't even have a practical live use for it! lol I just always loved this bassline from Cirque du Soleil - - and I can absolutely nail that exact BIG sound with my fretless, the BOD and the Carbon Copy.

The Analog Chorus is also new. I used to own the one with the Zakk Wylde graphics, replaced it with the MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe, and immediately missed having the Zakk Wylde. The BCD sounded too subtle to me and had some weird artifacts happening. The Analog Chorus is IT for me in terms of chorus pedals.

Bass Compressor, Phase 90, and Carbon Copy ... all just perfect. Nothing else to be said there.

As for the non-MXR pedals? At least the Pork Loin is still in the Dunlop family :) Will never be replaced by anything. Nothing can beat it in my opinion. The MXR CAE MC401 would look nice in place of the Radial. No reason to replace the Radial for only branding reasons though. Not yet at least ... lol

when my bro bought the zakk overdrive, we compared it to the gt-od. the zakk wyld and the gt-od are very simular. the gt-od is good. if your looking for an agressive gt-od, get the zakk wylde.

Since I didn't have a shot of my current pedalboard before, here's a recent rig shot with a rather distant pedalboard shot. Got the 6-Band EQ and BFD on there.

Kicking around getting a BOD, too. The sound isn't quite like my beloved OC-2, but I'm thinking I might like to try one that's less synthy than an OC-2 but fatter than a Micro Pog, just to be different.

This one I have has the zak wyld mod done to it. Not sure how much it makes it replicate the actual zak pedal, but I know the previous owner performed that mod on it (the switch in the upper left hand corner)

Flangers, by design, cut/emphasize certain frequencies as they sweep. Are you sure it's cutting, and not just doing its thing like intended? Just a question, I'm not a tech expert or anything.
