That isn't saying much. LA has ran several football franchises out town because of the nature of the people in the area.
It is true that bandwagon fans occur in all cities in all sports.
Bandwagon? Does Mississippi have a Pro sport? 
I saw Hondo (John Havlicek) play at the Boston Gardens live, so I guess I've been a Celts fan for a while. I even followed them (online) last year, as depressing as it was to do so.

The first NBA finals I remember watching as a kid was The C's against the Phoenix Suns. The C's, had Cowens, Paul Silas, Havelick, and JoJo White. The Suns has Gar Heard, two Van Arsdales, Paul Westphal, And Alvin Adams. Those are the only players I still remember from that series, but I remember at least one OT game and some great clutch Shots for both teams. I've been a Pistons fan since I moved to Detroit in 1970. I remember all the era's, the Bing-Lanier Era, the Dick Vitale era, the Tripuka-Thomas era, The Bad Boys
, the Orlando Woolridge-Cedric Cebollas-Sean Elliot era, the Grant Hill-Byson Daley era, the uncle Cliffy do you have a joint to share-Robinson era, the Rip-Big Shot era, and now the beginning of the Rodney Stuckey era?
I called the lakers going to the finals like the third game of the season. Did I have a basis or fact behind this call? Of course not. Just like Burk.

I've been a lakers fan since a saw my first game with my dad, who is a Brit and introduced the game to me simply because he loved the speed of it. My dad grew up playing football (soccer) and rugby. I've watched the lakers win or lose since I was a kid. So I can relate to the heartbreak of Boston fans except there is one simple difference, the lakers are better. Simple fact.

Angels have had it rough - no doubt.
At this point - the better team is a matter of opinion not fact. Even with the better regular season record and the 3-0 record against the Lakers this year; it is too early to say that the Celtics are the better team. We'll know soon enough.

The two best teams in a 7 game series for the championship is a thing of beauty regardless of your rooting interest. That they are the two teams with the most championships in NBA history makes it even better.

I think you and I have differing opinions on what a bandwagoner is. A bandwagon fan to me is someone who only claims their team during the good times.
I'm from Florida (and currently living in Florida) so I generally like Florida teams (Marlins, Heat, Panthers). The one exception being the Colts. When I got into football a few years ago, I loved their style of play and I have stuck with them through many postseason letdowns.
