As posted in EVERY post I have ever made about the new 360/361: I have never seen one or played one. I am only going by the few phone calls that I had with George several years ago and by those who currently OWN them. I AM AN AMPEG GUY. I have no interest whatsoever in their products

Well, to be sure here....if they wanted to give me one......:D

Damn...I thought you were one of the few who had visited/seen the proto on it. This things been going on so long that I've become senile since it began. :crying:

Nope....I was asked (some 3 or 4 years ago - Hell, I don't even remember) to be an endorser for acoustic. After waiting for a year for the product rollout, I bowed out and went with the Ampeg Heritage line. I now play Ampeg exclusively and wouldn't change for anything.

That having been said - I support ANY small business in America who brings jobs to people who need them. This is why I have followed this saga with interest. George, believe it or not, is one helluva nice guy. He is a tad eccentric though (aren't we, as musicians a little?) and he has made a mess (at least here on Talkbass) of marketing his products. That's something that happens with anyone new to the business, I fear.

So, bottom line, I support the effort these guys are making. I hope that they sell a BUNCH of these amps.

Yes, the original Acoustics are legendary. But the Acoustic USA products are not clones, except in appearance. George/Vetchking claims the the preamp and power amp are new designs. The speakers are OEM from Eminence. I don't think the original cabs had horns.

Please don't take any of my comments in this thread as bashing George/Vetchking or Acoustic USA. I'm just trying to add some facts to the hyberbole.

And like Buster Brown, I wish george and his company the best of luck.

I've been thinking about the claims of them being different and better, and to me it muddies the waters. I mean, its not the 'classic' amp reborn as all of the main features, amp, preamp and speakers are different. So, reissue fever that one might hope for when asking big dollars for a faithful reproduction can't really happen. But in terms of new designs, its dressed up like an old design, which doesn't really work for any cutting edgers. This part of the plan has always confuzzled me. :confused:

Rabbit371 who has a naming scheme that is very close to Nick901, would you please honestly openly state that you're not connected in any way to the production, promotion or sale of Acoustic USA? And that you don't get any consideration in any way from Acoustic USA?

Not that I'm suspicious, but I'm suspicious. Especially with the way thing whole thing has unfolded.

I was offered an "endorsee artist" agreement, but it got me no discounts on the initial purchase and I will not pursue it. It would be somewhat false, as I am "A mediocre player with great equipment". Someday I need to join that club. Also please note that I am a gigging bass player, however small and local.

What I am is empathy connected to George, a person dedicated to attempting to restore American pride in technology and industrial production, and also audibly connected to the sound and look of a great marque in bass amplification.

Some people love the sound of Fender, or Gibson. I love the sound of Acoustic 360, 370 and new 360 amplifiers and consider them as much part of my instrument as the bass.

There is no Acoustic conspiracy here on TB. If you look around you'll find a number of guys that are bonkers about the Acoustic stuff both old and new.

Nothing in the world wrong with being excited about your gear though some folks call that being a shill.

Lets face it we like our gear or we would not be posting in here.

I say all hale to the new Acoustic USA Gear. May it live long and prosper. May Vetchking make a gazillion dollars in the process.

Bring it on baby. :hyper:

I don't know how many people have seen. but Acoustic now has both their American and Canadian sites up, and are bringing back three other cabs and a power amp. And Flea just bought 12 of these 360/361 for their pending world tour. He must have heard something from them...

I played through one, a 360, during rehearsals for a couple weeks in the 90's. I did not like standing next to it....but ten feet in front of it....wow!! Powerful and bassy. If new electronics/speaker design means tighter bass AND the horn for the highs....I would like to play through one. It was a lot of amp in the day. Unique tone from just 1-18.

They didn't. And I hope they put plenty of padding inside the walls of the cabinet. The one I played through did not have and acoustic material.
