The NEW acoustic 360/361....

Well, it sucks being the pioneer of big bass rigs. So maybe they will do it better this time. I just don't get it. I really don't. Here is a company, (man) trying to bring back a legendary bass amp and I read more negativity than positive remarks from "musicians", many who were never even born at the time the original was manufactured and never even heard one.

Everyone here needs to take a step back and understand that these are NOT "vintage reissue", any more than GC's line of Acoustic amps and cabs are.

Different preamp. Different power amp. Different driver compliment. (On the plus side, at least the drivers aren't neo. The price won't go up once the stock of drivers George has been sitting on for over a year is used up.)

I'd like to hear a side-by-side comparison of an original vs. a "new" one.

BTW, I like George. I was always highly entertained by his "Vetchking here" posts, and I think his heart was in the right place. But for whatever reason, he hyped them to hell and back 3 years before the first one ever hit the streets. So I can't blame some people for having a negative reaction to him.

So is Flea switching to the 360/301?

360/361. 360 is the pre-amp, 361 is the powered cab.

Silly question..... but since this is a preamp / powered speaker, why does Flea need 4 preamps when each preamp can feed 4 powered speakers?

Optically, it looks sweet, but thats a lot of $$$$$ for a nice looking picture.

One 360 can drive 4 x 361's. I thought the same thing but I guess he can afford it. Perhaps he wants each with it's own individual sound - who knows?
(Flea does)

Yeah.....and as rumor would have it.....Flea ain't the only "name" making the switch.....

*disclaimer.......rumors are rumors and nothing more....but I heard the Flea thing a while back and it came to fruition...;)

Of course, I have also heard that Ampeg is going to re-release the old straightback cab....and kiddies....I am PRAYING that they do!!! I will be first in line!! :D

Huh??? No kidding??? I could get over being bummed out about not getting a Heritage B-15 if they did that...provided the speakers sound identical to the CTS's in my original. Then again, I love that beat-up old 73 cab of mine so much I may not see much of a reason to get a reissue.

That would be extremely cool. Then Tom B. can do a shootout--Heritage 810 vs. new straightback vs. "regular" Ampeg 810 vs. vintage straightback vs. NV610.:p
