This whole "thing" is horse hockey. Consider this: Ampeg Heritage CL - $2,400 (give or take a couple of bucks) Ampeg HSVT8X10 - $1,300 total $3,700 round it up to $4,000 dollars after taxes, covers, etc etc.
I will put my rig up against ANY on the market today. Period. End of story.
Acoustic 360/361 rig MSRP $5,000. I don't know, but I would guess that you can probably get them cheaper. MSRP means "suggested" retail price.
Is the acoustic rig worth the money?
I have no clue, I haven't played one. The guys that own it say YES! The rigs will soon be reviewed in the trade mags. Advertising will soon follow. Time will tell if this generation of players who don't seem to be capable of moving anything larger than an XBox will accept them.
But I always find it curious that guys who will defend $12,000 dollar bases like there is no tomorrow will belittle someone who pays more than $1,000 for an amp.
Frankly, I truly hope for acoustic USAs success, bass players should ALWAYS have another choice in amplification.
However, as I have come to realize over the course of time on this forum - there will always be those who CONSTANTLY see the glass as half-empty. What sad little people these are....
