The NEW acoustic 360/361....

The question is......Why?

Me feeling exactly. But since the market is gripped by "everything that is old is THE GREATEST THING EVER!!!" it could work. Just not for me. Or any bassist I actually know. Anywhere.
lots of people who aren't fans of the 360 are posting to this thread pretty incessantly. why is that? some of us would just like to read the posts and not have to see all this BS. if you don't like them/don't care that they are making more/think they suck/whatever it may be, just stop posting. pretty easy.
Why? :: I started playing the bass in the late 60's. My ambition was, 1st, to get a Fender Jazz bass. Mission accomplished.
Then, it was the Acoustic 360/361. It was almost $2000.00. I didn't make it. I moved cities: Montreal to Toronto and put the bass away for over thirty years. Well, now I'm back. The NEW 360/361 is head and shoulders over anything back then AND now. Your comment is based on assumption only. If you try it, I'm pretty sure you'll recant on your comment. "Try it, you'll like it".

I really enjoyed some of the old acoustic amps. But this is the musical equivalent of one man building split window Corvettes from his garage. I don't blame people for being skeptics. It just seems impractical from a business standpoint and a practical one. Them again, there are markets for much stranger things...

yea but if someone was legally building '63 vette repros, people likely wouldn't be coming out of the woodwork to yell about how much they hate '63 vettes. how they had one back in the day and it was terrible. how they don't see why anyone would want one. i don't see the allure in complaining about something you don't even care for/about or really have any interest in.
now that i've gotten that out of my system, i'll patiently wait for my Viva Analog 360+ the arrive and daydream about one of these beasts.

Ok then. Let me settle this dispute: When an Acoustic 360/361 arrives in your local music store, grab your trusty bass and run down there. Plug it in and PLAY. Then email me back and tell me that it is one of the best amps you've ever heard. If not, meet up with me and I'll buy you dinner. Because it will be obvious that you're undernourished.

Like others here, I'm interested this new Acoustic, but most folks (myself included) won't cough up money for a product they can't hear, read about, and see some detailed pictures of first. They need to have a product page for this on the internet. I think if there were a web site that had some sound clips, photos & specs, the interest - and more importantly - the sales, would increase by leaps & bounds.
I simply don't understand how a slightly modernized version of an outdated, oversized design (especially the cab) can be so "game-changing" and "the best thing you've ever played." Don't get me wrong, for the right kind of doom/retro/stoner rock music I bet they'd be great; but I'll take my Eden, thanks, or perhaps JGR's awesome preamp with a good solid poweramp. At least I can bring that on the subway.
Also, not gonna lie; Vetchking's marketing schtick had my hackles up. I still don't think anything can be worth that kind of hype; and this is coming from someone who owns a couple of relatively hyped-up basses.

Acoustic stuff is awesome, I own a vintage 370 (second one I've had, won't make the fatal mistake of selling it again) and a 150b. They don't make them much better than this and if this 360/361 is a slight improvement on the old ones I'd consider buying one down the line. Sure there are lighter things. Smaller things. Just as loud. But I like a big beefed up sound and a huge rig behind me. Even if its just to jam with my friends and gig maybe a couple of times a year... I can see why some people are skeptic about the product and lack of information but running a small time business is hard work and its tough doing and supervising a lot at once...

I would totally love to have an acoustic 301 cab again and put a 2x10 on top of it and run it with an ampeg head ... but then I come to my senses and realize I don't want to move a refrigerator sized bass cabinet around.
But damn those folded horn 1x18 cabs sound great, and they look cool too!
A totally cool amp to use for a Zepplin tribute band.
First of all - this is NOT about "MICRO" ! If you have ever heard one of these puppies you'd Know that.
If you ever plug in bro - you're in for a treat you won't forget any time soon! The thro on these cabs means you won't even hear it til you're WAY out front. This is BIG hall stuff we're talkin' here.
Testing and certing for harmonized standards can take from a few hours to a few weeks. Certainly not months unless a product fails testing and needs to be re-worked.
