HI
could you explain how's it sound Fatstack with Audere?
I am waiting for bass with Fatstack & I really don't know if I should have preamp or not cuz Nord pick up sounds wonderful without it. But I am still counting on preamp. hmmm.
Thanks in advance.

Jin

I'll play.:hyper:

The Black one. #2
Alder body
Birds Eye Maple f/b
Nordstrand Fatstacks
Audere 3 band preap

The White one. #32
Alder body
Brazilian Rosewood f/b
Nordstrand Fatstacks
Audere 3 band preamp

I purchased both of mine through Jay at
Blueberry Hill Bass. He was very helpfull (and patient)
through the whole process. He has a few for sale on his web site.
You won't have to wait 4 months!:bassist:

BTW Bernie...that's a great looking Nordy you have.
Its one of the first (4) NAMM basses....correct?

Dan

Hi Jin,

Judging from everything I've read, the FatStacks will sound great with the Audere. The dealer I ordered my Nordy Vj5
from has a Passive Vj5 with Fatstacks and he loves them. The Audere is supposed be one of the most neutral/passive sounding active preamps on the market.

That said, it would be nice to hear from others who have the Audere pre with Norsy FatStack Pickups! Gary

6 string fretted Nordy? Hmm....

Carey, you out there...? ;)

How interesting would that be? But lets not distract Carey from getting started on my Nordy vj5! I am so excited about it, I am still tempted to get another on order. Something in perhaps another flavor? Something more traditional and simple such as an Alder/Braz Rosewood/Oly White/Tort vj5 with Big Singles/passive. Hmmm. How cool might that be? This would augment my Vj5 in Trans-coral blue/Ash/Birdseye Maple/Blocks/binding/Fatstacks/Audere. Hmmm. I always did prescribe to the notion: Collect the whole set! Would it be crazy to order another Nordy? My concern is that I would play the one that spoke to me the most and the other would sit jealously in the case. Hmmm.

But I am seriously considering ordering yet another Vj5. Bernie - Does yours make you want another? Or are you content? Gary

I definitely want another, Gary. An alder bodied 5'er with 3 tone burst, brazilian rosewood board with blocks and binding, a tort guard and fat stacks. Passive as well. Sounds good to me! ;)

An Aguilar DB750 and DB810 is calling my name first though. That will be all I need for amplification and then it's on to some more basses that I would love to acquire.

If you're looking for someone to steer you away from getting a second Nordy, I'm certainly not that person. ;) :D

Neither am I - just got off the phone with Carey checking progress on what will be ( God willing ) my second Nordy. Finalizing specs and such...
so far, I cannot be swayed from my Ash/ Maple passion. So Ash body ( we are going light Ash since my back is not what it used to be )
Maple and B-eye Maple for the neck. Black blocks and binding of course.
I will remain loyal to Dave Meadows' Audere Pre, with the tone rolloff. This is a lovely preamp and he was kind enough to send me the prototype. Trying to decide between trans black or solid black, probably trans. Think I am going to try some singlecoil J's - had Carey' singlecoils in a Ken Lawrence and they sounded incredible while maintaining minimum hum. So I am also hyped about a new Nordy. They are SO FINE. Shoot, I don't even have Celinder gas anymore! Dr. Nordstrand cured it!

"Hi Scott, it's Carey. Just leaving you a quick voicemail to let you know that I've decided to change the color of your Shell Pink Nordy custom 7-String to something slightly more masculine. I don't want to build a bass that will clash with the Shell Pink Polo button-down shirts that you wear at NAMM.

Perhaps an Inca Silver blend will suit you? Sweet. Give me call if there are any problems. Oh, one last thing, did you get the dozen roses I sent you?"

:ninja:

Well as long as we are fantasizing I would love a Shell Pink Nordy with Rosewood fingerboard. Who knows, maybe one day....

Gary, an email is heading your way soon.

I'm in here as well! :D

Alder body, rosewood board, Fat Stacks, and custom Nordtrand 3-band. I am just loving this bass. It is incredibly versatile, and one of my favorite instruments, for sure.

Tom -

Did you get that from Bass Exchange/Amp Shop out here in Sherman Oaks?

If so, that is the one I played.

Hey Scott.....
Matt here. I spoke with Stew today about the possibility of going Surf Green instead of Daphne Blue for the Nordy I ordered from you, or.....dare I say it?????......SHELL PINK!!!!

OK TBrs...would you do Daphne Blue with rosewood or Surf Green? My heart is leaning surf green, but shell pink is just too cool!!!

You know what they say....2 in the pink, and....oh, nevermind!!! (Edited for G rated content).
What color would YOU pick?

I was just browsing colors today. Funny you should post just now. I too was considering Daphne Blue or Surf Green for a more vintage vibe for Nordy Number 2. I also looked at Sonic Blue, Sea Foam Green, Shell pink and others. I don't think I'm man enough to play a pink bass. :hiding: I wouldn't choose it.

Both of your color choices are way cool and both have a Vintage vibe that is cool. I thought I prefered Daphne Blue over Surf Green. Then I googled the colors and found some vintage instruments and realized that I like both equally. Surf Green is Waaay Cool though. Go with a matching headstock to really make your statement. (IMHO) I've always like Blue colors over greens though. So Daphne Blue would also be sweet. How is Daphne Blue different from Sonic Blue? They seem really close.

What are your specs? Vj5? Vj4? which PU's? Preamp? Gary
