The Official 2012 NHL Stanely Cup Finals Thread: Part II

...wow, I cannot believe they would take Jersey that lightly.

Hey, one of your Flyer brethren from this thread said pretty unabashedly before the start of the series that he didn't respect the Devils, and figured that Philly would trounce them in 5. Sounds like there are a lot of people who haven't learned to have a healthy respect for your opponent in the Conference semifinals.

Another nugget from the Philly sports page-
Phoenix has advanced farther WITHOUT Bryz.

Hadn't thought of that, but what a great point... Phoenix got whalloped in the first round last year with Bryz, and they're in the Conference finals now without him. Quite telling...

The worst part is I have to wear this stupid devils tshirt all day. But a bet is a bet. Man I'm catching hell at work today. It's ok, I'll come in tomorrow decked out in Flyers stuff. I real fan wears their team after a loss, fake fans buy gear after a win.

Thanks Flyers for making the Pens look even worse than they are. Time to put away the Talbot jersey. :)

What a nice nugget from our resident elitist hockey fan burk. I'm not happy my team lost either, but I won't be blaming the NHL for it.

Haha, Jagr can't even stop talking about the Pens. He is taking credit for keeping the Pens in Pittsburgh. Good stuff Jagr....

I was pretty young when this happened so having a hard time remembering, but wasn't Jagr basically the captain that bailed on his sinking ship? Not that I fault him, as in this league players change teams frequently (just the nature of a salary cap plus breakout performances by underpaid players) but it seems pretty silly to say such a thing.

Was able to catch the third period after practice last night. Didn't bother to stay up and watch the DVR of the first two periods after watching the highlights.

Can't believe overall how gassed the Flyers looked after having that layoff and how lightly they took New Jersey. Yes, I did too.

DeBoer had NJ back quickly and frustrating Philadelphia's fast attack and it hurt the Flyers and Laviolette couldn't come up with an answer for it. Lavvy may be a great motivator but he got out-coached in the series.

Giroux needs to find someone to pick out clothes for him. Timonen should give him lessons. Kudos for Giroux being there in the line though.

Uh, Bryzgalov... DO NOT TRY TO PASS THE PUCK THROUGH A OPPOSING PLAYER COMING RIGHT AT YOU YOU DUMB F&*^%&*(%!&*(!!!

For some reason I never bet on my favorite sports teams although I make Sky Masterson type bets on other teams, especially in hockey and football.

Even though the Devils are a divisional rival I think I can honestly say I don't personally know a single Devils fan, so the idea of them winning the cup doesn't bother me. Would be nice to see old man Marty retire with a ring his final season.

The surprising part for me is I find myself rooting for the Rangers at this point. I'm left with no team I really have any love for.

Same here on Rupp. He left the Pens quietly, but I sure wish they had kept him.

If the Rangers win, it should be fun to see how he interacts with his former Devil teammates. I was kind of hoping to see Philly win and the Rangers to see if Hartnell and Rupp get into it again when Rupp does his salute after scoring a goal. :)

Grew up and still a huge Bruins fan (Cape Cod, MA- Boston is 70 miles from me). However, born in Montclair, NJ so I am a wannabe Devils fan. Since the Bruins were elimininated I have been rooting for the Devils and hope they go all the way. Also, love Grampa Brodeur between the pipes; I too would love to see Marty go out on top.

No problem Mike!

Don't blame burk... Wing Nutz have been elitists ever since some marketing guru in Detroit trademarked the term Hockeytown in '98. They think the NHL owes them.

On a side note, funny how the Wings organization came down hard on the guy that came up with that silly hat! (Wing Nutz)

Kings all the way....Mike Richards gets the last laugh.

Flyer fans the world over will be so mad. Me, I'll be laughing. Scuderi can laugh at the Pens, but he is a few years removed from leaving Pittsburgh.

I am actually cheering for the Kings to win it all now. I wouldn't be mad. I still really like richards and want him to do well and quick has been amazing. So for the next round I'm a kings fan(flyers west) lol. I just don't want the east to win. Can't stand any of the teams still in the east and I still have a soft spot in my heart for the kings because of gretzky.
