Not me. I liked it better when the home team wore white. That way the home fans got to see all the different colored jerseys of the other teams when they came to your building. It took me several years to get used to it after they switched to having the home team wear their colored jerseys.

Exactly this. Nowadays, season ticket holders see the same thing nearly every game.

Man...cannot believe I'm thinking this but-
Claude Lemiuex. Why? I love Claude Lemieux because I hate Claude Lemiuex.

While they were both instigators there is no comparison. Lemieux would instigate and then skate to the locker room and hide his little coward a&* in the shower. McCarty would chase him into the locker room if he could. McCarty never backed down from a fight, Lemieux on the hand would cheap shot and run. :D

They did kiss and make up evidently, they were signing autographs together at a sports card show here this spring. Of course McCarthy needs the money, he went belly up a couple of years ago, and the auctioned off a bunch of his stuff.

Tonight Don Cherry made some comments backing up mkandy's position to bring back the redline.

Then, in a thoroughly Darth-satisfying bit, he slammed the linesmen for their face-off work. But I won't get started on that.

And if you'd have told me in 1988 or so that they'd be playing Master of Puppets in between whistles, I'd have said you were drinking your dirty bath water.

I actually don't think it 'tells' much, except what Dale Hunter's priorities are in his life. He runs arguably the most successful OHL team in Ontario with his brother, and lives on a farm with his family. In Washington, he's away from all of that and part of the grand NHL media circus. Back in November, when we hired him, he would only agree to a contract through the end of this year. I think it's pretty clear that he was hesitant to leave behind his home in Ontario, and after trying it out, he realized he preferred to remain there.

I believe he'd have walked away just the same from any other franchise; I don't think it's the least bit indicative of what he found in Washington's locker room. I'll eat my words if he signs with another NHL franchise in the next year or two, but I'm pretty confident that he's just one of those guys who puts his family life above any aspirations about coaching in the big leagues.

Now, on to things that are 'telling', there's a good article on ESPN right now about how Alex Semin has already decided he's going to be a free agent, and his time in Washington was 'good while it lasted'. His agent makes a bunch of complaints on his behalf, about how he was never used on the penalty kill, the organization is going in a different direction, etc, etc. Semin's an absolute magician with the puck on his stick, but he's a complete liability at any other time. Plus, he's got a well-documented bad habit of not mentally showing up for games. He's a very, very private guy (which I completely respect), but he's to the point of being totally aloof with the fans, which makes it hard to really support him emotionally as a Caps player. He's also dramatically overpaid; his one 40-goal season earned him a $6.7M/year contract, which is eating up enough money to replace him twice over.

All that to say... good riddance.

What is disgusting is the media is already pushing it as a NY/LA battle. haha, it will be nice to wipe the smirks off of Jones, Millbury, McGuire, et. al. when the Devils are lifting the cup and Marty is skating around with his 4th ring, as the undisputed greatest goalie to ever play the game.
