Definitely going to stay BEADGCF. I never need any notes lower than the low B, and I love the new possibilities with the high C and F strings.

Congrats on your acquire! Nice to see another BTB7 in the club. Sadly mine didn't come with hardcase, only in standard Ibanez cardboard box like my other Ibanez Workshop basses.

But local Ibanez distributor did give me very affordable price, no more than $40 from what you've paid for that used like new one.

No, but they've always intrigued me. Ibanez doesn't build them anymore. Extremely rarely, I've seen them pop up second hand.

Interesting, what do all of the knobs do? I googled and it said "Custom electronics including a three-position parametric preset rotary switch and mid-frequency selector" which I don't understand

Had this SR7VII still being produced or if they've made replacement model, I might be intrigued to buy it. Too bad the current model is only the 6 string version (SRC6).

I've owned it for almost 6 years, and I couldn't tell you everything it does.

Soon after buying it, I contacted Conklin because I wanted to buy a case for it. Bill was the person that replied, so I asked about the controls. He sent me the wiring diagram but I am not familiar with reading those schematics.

Volume, PU blend and low, mid, hi cut/boost. When the mid is boosted, you can hear the differences the toggle and rotary knob makes. I think it boosts specific frequencies in the mid range.

Minor update:In order to lessen string tension to make tapping the higher strings a bit easier,I've detuned my bass to G#,C#,F#,B,E,A,D.
Now I have to relearn different fingering as I lose the open B,E,A,D,G,C,F notes.

Has anyone else done this tuning?

Mine is also not in standard tuning. About 3 weeks ago I've changed it to BEADGBE just to see if this is easier for playing chords.

Does wide fret 8 string 4.5 inch wide work? I do have this week CGT7 coming from fedx, my new used Conklin Groove Tools 7 coming!!!! mine on the way is an 18 volt system active.....

Erica 8 string bass new Emg 45 soap bar type pickups mod I did & tone caps a must .047... ok this is my 1st video jammin my new EMG 8 string bass beast love this thing... I did my 1st ever pickup install & tone caps had to do new wiring to the pods & ground & post... Shout out special thanks to Gary made this happen for the pickup area route out.... We had to widen the pickup area route it out to get 1/2 inch for the new Emgs. So worth doing if you love the way a bass or guitar plays but hate the sound do new Emg pickups & Mojotone Vitamin T .047uf Paper In Oil Capacitor or find your own flavors... Enjoy !!! This is my new sound now again record from a silly ipad but you get the idea.... rock on bebe .... My new tone beast 8 string bass....

Hi Thanks so much yes the 8 string wide is a China solid neck thru Maestro, this is real nice got on reverb for 200. in California shipped to me then I did the EMGs & tone caps, what a sound now solid the pickup before were junk 1 penny per pickup type lol... I love this jam it everyday !!!!!!
