The Official EBS Club

yeah, I'd also expect the Barefaced 12 would be more neutral and more bass-heavy at same time.

does Barefaced have the same response in highs, or the EBS 112 is like brighter/glassier?
any significant difference in voicing in mids?

thanks
Both cabs seams quite able to reproduce full range, even with guitar and modeler, but the SMT just sounds more articulated. The SMT seams to go lower, and with the tweeters off, also higher. Sorry, nor my ears or my vocabulary is able to give a good description of the differences. If you are thinking a 212 would be perfect, and the price of a Barefaced 212 is prohibitive, two NEO112s definitely seams to go louder and deeper than one SMT.

Another one for the Neo 2x12 club!

So I got this deal on a barely used Neo 2x12 for 500€. Was looking into spending like half of that on a new cab, but this was 40 min away from my place and almost in new condition (plenty of cat fur included tho). I couldn't try it myself but the bassist of one of the other groups in our rehearsal place gave it a try through his GR bass one 350w and holy poopie this is loud compared to his 4x10 800w Markbass. Not only loud, but a lot more articulate and warmer. But the volume difference was so big that he had to turn it down to half what he had on his 4x10 (which is 4ohm also).

This weekend I'm picking up a used Hartke LH-1000 and I can't wait to tear the place down with it .

Hmmm....not much activity as of late. Here's a question for the 750 / 752 users:

How high do you run the gain to goose / saturate the preamp stage? Mine is set at 2-3:00...a tad higher and the peak LED begins to flash. This is actually recommended in the manual for the balance of the circuitry to respond optimally. If I go any lower than 12:00, the noise floor begins to creep-up and markedly so. It was kind of an "a-ha!" moment for me. I'm also able to hit my gig volume within the first 1/3 of the master volume sweep.

well, I'm not a current user, but had the 750.

the gain definitely has an effect on tone, when you add it, it sounds thicker, more mid-focused and saturated. I usually add gain, until my all strings are equally saturated, a bit more and the low B clips it, a bit less and it all sounds thinner.

also pay attention that when you dig harder, the preamp starts to overdrive (not very gracefully when driven hard), if you want a cleaner sound, just back up gain a bit.

a moment where those two moments meet is a bit before the light comes on, I find it roughly with the LED and then back up a little judging by ear. where's that on the dial? unpredictable, i.e. depends on your bass and playing style. I have three basses with very different output level, so I adjust the gain for the bass.

Thank you. I had backed-off the gain quite a bit to normalize (?) master volume sweep and ended up with an unacceptable signal-to-noise relationship.
