The Official EBS Club

That *does* look more like "Neoline" than "Proline" (which tend to have some blue detail and a different grill). Apparently the reviews vary a bit by model - I've got a pair of 212s from the same Neo series that I consider to be just superb. That was indeed a boutique cabinet in its day, but it's only spec'ed to handle 250W, so I'd be really careful using contemporary hundreds-of-watts-in-a-matchbox amps with it. The catalog photo shows a handle being used to prop it up like an angled monitor, and maybe that's it's intended use - on-stage sound for a bassist that's mostly running through the PA. Should also be fine in a cafe/bar gig if the speaker's still OK.

Interesting, that's just what I'm looking for! Is there any noticeable difference between both lines, apart from the weight?Fingers crossed the seller will let me try it out, pretty unresponsive so far.

Just snagged a used Reidmar 750 to pair with an Epifani 3x10. It wasn’t really on my radar but was, in fact, the only thing offered-up in a trade deal. By sheer luck, it’s a perfect match spec-wise as the cab is rated at 700 watts / 5.25 ohms. They did a great job of hiding the “mute” button but enjoying the new hardware just the same.

I guess I hadnt ever thought of a preamp being the bit thats distorting.....I didnt know that was possible.

well, the pre has some grit when driven. but if you are notably lower than the clip light, it might be the cab indeed.

a 502 is a powerful amp, I can get distortion in my neoline 112 when turned to very loud and it's the cab (I verified it with a different amp and a more powerful cab). yeah, you can clip the power amp as well, but in my case I'm hitting the limits of the cab first.

I'd say, this is pronounced for me in frequencies below cab specs, i.e. like a low C on a low end heavy bass is the situation I hear it most. a HPF helps to some extent (mine is 29 Hz fixed, I bet, 50 Hz would be only better)

I actually had to do some serious investigating on this one, and lead me to having to contact bartolini, and it seemed that there was an issue between the preamp and the jack and nothing to do with the amp or cab, thankfully.

my current rig comprises of an ebs valve drive into an ebs drome combo. Anyway one day i'm plugged in and smoke is pouring out of the back of the drome ..with the help of ebs tech support using iphone photos of the pcb they immediately identify the offending capacitor and send me out a replacement for free no quibble ...not bad considering i bought the drome new like over twenty years ago ...ebs are a class act company.

FYI,
I just spoke with someone from EBS's US distributor, and apparently Sweetwater can get you information about any EBS item you want, I'm waiting to hear if they will also be able to sell anything besides the cables they have listed on the website. I was simply trying to find a price list to look at, and it's so far taken 8 emails to essentially be told little to nothing.

Does anyone know why its so hard to get EBS in the US? Adam Hall has warehouses full of the stuff...but where's it being sold?

I have been having distortion more lately...I think you're correct that it's the cab. I'm getting it near constantly, especially if I play more than one string at a time and I'm worried that I damaged the speaker. :(

Hi,
First of all, excuse me if it isn't the right place to ask but I didn't want to start a new thread because of such a trivial thing... to the point.. Could anyone tell me what are the exact dimensions of EBS Flat Patch Cable? I.e. for PG-10 the A=10cm or A+2B=10cm?

Thanks

It used to be that you’d find it on boutique online bass shops like Bass Central (IIRC I bought an EBS Neo212 cab from them circa 2011), but some of those shops went away and Bass Central no longer seems to sell EBS . This looks like a side hustle opportunity but the necessary logistical footprint would be damned expensive around here.

Per my previous post...the required pic:

I guess the mis-matched enclosure borders on sacrilege. My OCD is driving me to find a matching cab but I think I'm doing well as-is...the Epifani is rated at 700 / 5.25 ohms. A few observations:

*Probably one of the best on-board comps I've encountered considering it's a one-knobby jobby. It has a really nice "bounce" to it.

*The "Character" voicing actually works with creating an ungawdly tone-sucking scoop and complements the superimposed EQ. I do have to attenuate the bass filter a tad to bring things into check.

*Aside from the MB3 pedal, I know virtually nothing about EBS amps. It's my impression that just about model I saw uses the same control layout.

I got mine years ago by contacting Adam Hall, being bounced around til I got the local rep, and then buying them over the phone and having them shipped to my house (for free, I believe)
....but its Effing 2024.
How have they not streamlined this process yet????

Hey folks! This is a long shot, but I am looking for someone willing to sell their Fafner I blue stripe or Fafner II. I have a variety of allergies (cats, cigarette smoke, strong perfumes, colognes, or detergents), so it would need to come from an environment without any of those.

I'd really appreciate anyone that can point me towards one of these!

Best Regards,

Andrew

in a while I was busy with my MarkBass + Phil Jones setup and forgot about my Reidmar and a neo 112. today I had a chance to play again through it, it's still awesome with all my basses. I think, I'm letting the neo 112 go, but it's pretty decent and cuts well. maybe, I'll want a new EBS cab when I'll sell it.

so, my rhetorical question is: why don't they make a vertical neo 212? it would be like the perfect thing. the s212cl is nice, but heavy and not that efficient (only 97dB for a 212), a neo 212 is too much for my stairs (too wide).

so maybe I'll end with a Barefaced (like a Super Compact T). anyone had their hands on both Barefaced 12s and EBS 12s and can somewhat compare them? thanks

Yes i have. The Barefaced SMT looks like it is the same size as the NEO112 but i think it sounds much bigger. The old Reidmar 500 with two NEO112s is really impressive for what it is, but i perceive Barefaced to be a different level. It is also my impression that the difference between amps and between basses seams more clearebs with the SMT.
