After spending a day in Cologne (Köln), Germany the bass seems to have boarded a flight and it has arrived in my local area! By the way, I don't blame it one bit for hanging around in Köln. Beautiful city! I'm hoping for a delivery today but if it doesn't happen, it's likely that I won't see it until next week...

I always fancied a violin bass but the Hofners just don't do it for me...

Thought that I'd give the Vox a try out....

However.....(Getting rapidly back to the club that I'm posting to).......

I love my Mensinger Joker and I'd rate it as the best bass that I own.....:hyper:

I think I'll be G.A.S. free for a bit now with my Elwood Europe and Frog. Dang man, the Frog is hard to tame, what a fantastic build.

And the Elwood has it's own awesome sound and feeling! :)

I'm curious, how do you guys like the zero fret design? It's kind of a european/german thing and I suppose most americans aren't used to it. Both my Sandberg and my Maruszczyk have one and since those are my main basses I don't even think about it that much. I also have a jazzbox guitar with a zero fret and, again, don't really feel or hear a massive difference to other instruments without one. It seems like the guitar community is much more sensitive to this subject, but since so many people here (who aren't from europe) are happy with their maruszczyk basses I guess it doesn't bother anyone?

I don't know that it's a European thing. Michael Tobias (Tobias & MTD) has been doing it for years. Elrick does it and also Steinberger. That being said, I don't have a problem with zero frets and I've owned MTD imports since early 2000....
