Jazz basses have always occupied a significant place in my heart and I don't really expect that to change. Lately, I've been digging the passive Precision Bass tones and I don't own one. If either of you were going to have a Jake Classic 4p built that would be an attempt to capture the classic P Bass tone, what options would you choose? I'm considering a new addition and it won't be very fancy. I may want a finish with a matching headstock. I think that I would prefer a bridge that is more adjustable than the default vintage option but if I do opt for a vintage style bridge, it will likely be from HipShot. Which split coil pickup would be the best choice? Woods? Tone Styler or nah?

If I were in your position, I'd see two possibilities. Either keep it really simple - in this case I would stick to the classic P setup including the vintage bride, preferably also flatwound strings. Or give it a modern touch - in this case I would use another bridge and the tone styler.

I am no expert on pickups, but Adrian can surely advise once you know the direction you're going with the bass.

Thank you Sir! I think the Tone Styler is no longer an option. I started backing off that idea as soon as I posted it. As for the bridge, the HipShot vintage will move to the top of the list. A pickup choice and the finish are basically the only things left that will require a good bit of contemplation....
