When I'm trying out my Elwood today, I find that playing it the same way as I play the mayones causes the strings to rattle (I'm from Taiwan and I'm not sure if this is the right term to describe), and raising the action only improve a bit. Guess I need more time adjusting both my action and my punch. Anyone came across this issue?

The stock strings suck. Try something you normally like and see if that helps.

Check your winding length and go from there. Measure from the ballend to halfway between the E tuner post & nut. Probably come up with ~35.5" on a Fender-esque configuration...YMMV.

No, referring to string length or, more specifically, the winding length. 33" scale instruments can be strange agents and conventional long-scale strings may end up with a portion of the full thickness wrap bent around the tuner post which can be a bad thing. @Jon Moody & GHS were working on a prototype 33" scale Progressives set although I'm not sure if it's reached the production stage.

Should be soon! It took a little bit to dial in the Low B string for the shorter scale, but I think we got it. I've been using the prototype sets for a while now, and they're great.

I'm sorry I wasn't clear, but that's exactly what you'll have to do; buy a med scale 4 string set and a long scale C string single.

I don't think there are three words that make a man happier than, "out for delivery" :D
Well, she just arrived and I'm really pleased with how everything turned out. The only oddity I've noticed so far is that I'm pretty confident that the bass has 18mm spacing, and not the 19mm I requested. I have a note into Adrian, so we'll see.

what wood is the fretboard made from? doesn't seem to be rosewood, does it?

The strings that came on my Elwood L 5a+ were too tight for me, and they weren't the gauge I requested. I currently use gauge 40-100 with a 125 low B in DR Sunbeams. I could even stand to go up one gauge to the 45-130 in those strings (which I used to play), because they are so flexible, but the stock strings I got were 45-125 and much tighter feeling.

I see several people here that mentioned the stock strings are not tight enough. Funny thing is that if you survey the top bass players out there most of them actually use lighter strings. Victor, Stanley, Anthony Wellington, Michael Manring, etc. all use light gauge strings. Nathan East uses 45-130, but plays on Dunlop Super Brights which are about as flexible as DRs. Food for thought, YMMV.

Well, Maruszczyk basses have a bullet glued to truss rod with Loctite 270... Found it out after the bullet unscrewed *facepalm*.

Gotta notice that regular soldering of bullet - you know - is "a bit" more reliable. What was the idea behind Maruszczyk making his own truss rods with such a poor execution - I don't know :bored:
