I only managed to test it with my practice Amp (a Nux 50b), but I'm loving the sound so far! The 4-way switch for the humbucker even works out better than expected :D

Wow, what a lineup… I love your wood/color selections, the blue and green ash bodies look fantastic too!

My electronics selection is what has delayed my order… Nordstrand Zen Blades with 3 position switches for each and Richter pre-amp with mid frequency sweep and (since it is fretless) Piezo saddles in the 2-part ETS headless bridge.

I decided to continue using stock nickel strings a little more, but I'm curious to try it with the GHS Pressurewounds ML7200 set. I love this bass a lot!

I'm going into week 20 due to waiting on parts from Nordstrand… sounds like they need to figure out how to manage the supply chain a bit better and prioritize builders over retail. Pretty disappointed in this whole situation, 22+ weeks - or 5mos for pickups is unacceptable.

I think your going to like the Time Square's, they really do sound great. I rewired my switches for North Coil / Series / South Coil and removed the parallel option, since I never used it and like the spacing options between the coils better.

I also had to change my order from Nordstrand Zen Blades to the Delano Times Square. I'm hitting my 15th week next week. I use to be a huge fan of Nordstrand but after this experience, I can no longer recommend their pickups. Looks like they still don't know when or if they will ever get their pickup shipment from Nordstrand. I'm sure I will be happy with the Delano Times Square pickups though.

Oh yes, but if you look at their Twitter feed they are still promoting Zen Blades as if they are producing them and builders can get access to them… oh and they're also promoting their hats and T-shirts which is super important and I'm sure it takes no time away from actually producing pick ups o_O

I guess I might as well start listening to pickups again so I can re-choose if I have to.

Don't know if this will help your particular situation, but I decided to change out some Delano pickups on my Mensinger Joker to Nordstand dual single (5 string). I called around to all the regular resellers of Nordstrand pickups and got the same answer that you got from Adrian regarding the length of time to receive their orders. I called Nordstrand directly and spoke with a great rep there. He explained that they will service the end user (you and me) as the first priority and if I placed on order for pickups, that I would receive them in 3-4 weeks and maybe a little bit sooner than that. He told me that Nordstrand assumes that resellers and builders should have an inventory and that their orders are typically to replenish their supply and that they assume that they are not in a rush. The shipping time for a reseller or builder is 3-4 months!! (Like a store planning ahead and placing an order when they see that their inventory is running low). Just an idea....you could have Adrian install a pickup that has the same (or really close) dimensions to speed up your completion and then order directly from NORDSTRAND to replace them when it arrives. Thats what I did, essentially, and then sold the Delanos on Talkbass in a matter of a day or two. If you are cynical by nature, you may also think that Nordstrand selling to the "end user" as getting RETAIL pricing and when they sell to builders and stores, they are getting paid wholesale pricing. Higher profit= 1st priority. (just saying!)

The main problem is we are not being told by Adrian or the Dealer that our builds could take twice as long due to not having pickups we selected instock. We select pickups and are told the same 12-15 week wait for our complete order. All they have to do is be transparent and tell us that they don't carry Nordstrand pickups on hand and they special order them but they don't tell us that at all. now I know how they operate. Also to be fair, Adrian placed the pickup order from Nordstrand on 1/1/22 and they can't even get someone on the phone from Nordstrand to tell them when they plan to ship the pickup order....Kind of a mess on both parties I would say. Not great customer service from Nordstrand, Adrian or the Dealer.....nobody reached out to us to tell us that our orders are being delayed due to not having pickups instock...We had to inquire about our builds because they were over the 12-15 week wait time and then we were told.

Well it certainly sounds like they have justified, in their own minds, not shipping an order for almost half of a year. Really just absolutely ridiculous and they should've been upfront with the builder that placed the order with them.

I guess if you're Ibanez and you're buying a pallet of pickups at a time that might make some sense. But for a small builder, I doubt they're buying a huge stock of any one pickup ahead of time and would think they'd place orders for hardware as they receive orders for instruments. I can't imagine that Ibanez is waiting six months for pickups, if so they have a lot of other options of great pickup manufacturers they could purchase from… or maybe it's just the Nordstrand name on the shells and someone else who could actually produce finished goods on time is actually building the pickups for Ibanez… dunno

They apparently have also had an issue in the past where the size of pickup that they ordered is not exactly what they received. Most pick ups come in different sizes for example a P2 or a G4 or a DC40. So they've decided to wait until they receive the hardware before they route into the body only to find out that that they have received a different size of shell from a pickup manufacture.

I definitely stuck with the P2 size so I could swap it out for another manufacturer if I choose to do so and could easily buy the pickups and go through the hassle of swapping out myself… but at this point I'm no longer a fan of Nordstrand due to this crummy business practice and would prefer to go with any other manufacturer if possible at this point.

If the Delano's sound as good as I think they will, then I'm all set. There are other Maruszczyk owners around here that have them and love them, I have Delano's in my Headless Frog and they sound great to me so again I think this is a good decision.

I'm pretty sure they did not know that the Nordstrand pickups were going to take in excess of five months, the discovery that they would sell to retail customers first and put all builders on the back burner is a pretty recent discovery both for the dealer and for Adrian. I think this probably won't be a recommended pickup in the future based on this situation unless they just happen to have excess inventory laying around after the five month wait and everybody canceling the initial Nordstrand configurations.
