I remember when I did some consulting for Honda Cars years ago… the manufacturing process used a just in time supply chain process, meaning that many components, interior, seats etc. would show up on a semi truck to the loading docks and go straight to the production line they would not have a bunch of inventory just sitting around waiting to build vehicles.

Thu is 12 weeks for me. I ordered Nordstrand NP4V pickup, so I sent an email to Randy (dealer) today asking if that pickup was backordered also, and if so what options I had. Here is the response I got:
I do not believe that your instrument will be affected. It is mostly the material they need for making the Zen played pick ups that they were having a difficult time getting. I will double check with the manufacturer to ensure that we are still on time.
I'll let you guys know what else I hear back.

Hey all, I spoke with Adrian late last night about the current concerns of Maruszczyk bass buyers here on TB. I wanted to make sure he was aware as he does not frequent TB very often.
He asked me to relay the following message ...
The 15 weeks delivery time only works when we have all parts in stock. That text is in the configurator tool.
Delivery time depends on many things (availability of parts, the complexity of the configuration, number of custom orders, changes, etc.) Usually, a custom order will take about 15 weeks to build. We try our best to ensure each custom instrument will be completed as soon as possible.
Additionally, we don't contact customers whose orders come in through a dealer; that text will be added to the website today. We don't know the customers; we get just the orders from our dealers. Sometimes there is a name, but the dealer is the customer.
We always try to have a certain amount of the offered parts in stock. Still, many manufacturers (e.g., hardware, pickups, etc...) have significantly delayed delivery times due to the current situation. As a result, we cannot always promise the expected delivery time of 15 weeks. We do our best and let our dealers know!"

FYI, I don't see the text on the configurator regarding 15 weeks. I'm probably missing it somewhere, but I don't see it at this time. Ultimately the text doesn't matter to me. My dealer told me it would likely be 12-15 weeks, but it could take longer depending on the circumstances. I knew what the deal was when I placed the order, so I have no complaints on the time.
The only reason I contacted the dealer today was because of the possible Nordstrand pickup backorder issue, and I was trying to get in front of the issue instead of waiting for 15 weeks to elapse. But it sounds like that is (hopefully) a non-issue on my configuration. So I'll just continue to wait (mostly) patiently.
But it's SOOOOOOO worth it when that box arrives, isn't it?

The delay issues called out above were not Adrian issues, they're Nordstrand issues. I was informed up front that mine may likely take longer due to some custom parts I ordered and had no problem with that possible delay.
But those custom parts are not what are creating my delay, it is the off-the-shelf stock parts that should have come from Nordstrand… which again is not on Adrian it's on Nordstrand for delaying an order 5+ months. Had Nordstrand been upfront with Adrian, that would've been communicated to the dealer, and we would've known… and I would've selected different pickups at that point in time.
Since we all (Adrian, dealer, me) found out after the fact (18wks in) about Nordstrand's business practices of putting builders at the bottom of the queue and that it was likely going to be another 4 weeks before they would even ship… I then selected a different mfg which should minimize the additional delays we were expecting from Nordstrand.
Again, from my perspective this is not on Adrian this is on the supplier. I'm in no hurry, and I'm patiently waiting and expecting 2 fantastic instruments to show up once they finally get all of the parts and they can complete the build. This certainly beats the potential 14 month wait I was looking at from other builders and at a fraction of the cost.
My studio is ready for another one, or couple…
I went with the Delano Jazzbars instead of Zen Blades in a Jazzus. Those are another good alternative. I was surprised by how much I like them--clear, open and punchy with plenty of output, and noiseless.Officially bailed on the Zen Blades today and swapping to Delano Times Square's. Just shaking my head at this one
Ideally, once Adrien & crew realizes that basses aren't being completed because of certain pickups neither being in stock nor coming in, they'd be able to notify customers (dealers & otherwise) that this is happening, and give those customers the option of choosing pickups that are in stock or easier to source.
Questionable logistics was one of the reasons I chose Delanos for my Frog. I couldn't have predicted the specifics of the Nordstrand mess, but I could generally assume that a European pickup would be easier for a European builder to acquire.

I'm going to make a bold statement, but I think Nordstrand pickups are a bit overrated (not bad in any means, just overrated), I had some in two different basses and I was far from being blown away. On my current #1 Pbass, I put a Nordstrand NP4v before quickly replacing it with a Delano PC 4 AL which -to me- sounds much better.

Yep, all good points about Nordstrand Zen blades I hadn't really considered them until the dealer told me to check them out and I watched some videos and was impressed.
To @BlueTalon 's point I should've thought through the logistics of parts coming from US might be an issue, so learned that one

I do however have a set of Delano's in my frog Headless and they sound pretty darn good and along with @xbud 's feedback on the positive experience he's had with the Times Square pickups I'm sure I'll be thrilled with them.

I had a 5 string Cazpar a few years ago but sold it; I try them every now and again but 4 strings are my true loveSince you're getting crazy with that configurator, might as well add another string too
Love that Eye Poplar top, I'm currently waiting on a Cazpar 5 with that top. Such a cool little bass.
