Randy got back to me... thank you ALL for recommending him. I sent him a list and the prices were even better than I thought!

I have had a lot of great basses (Lull, Roscoe, R Bass, MTD, Lakland, Clement, numerous Fenders and more). I just picked up a Blueburst Elwood L from another TalkBass member a couple of weeks ago and I can’t be more pleased. It is a great sounding, playing and looking bass. The quality is excellent! They are great basses at a great price! Highly recommended!

Congrats on the beautiful bass and thanks for the feedback, Parrot. Roscoes, Laklands etc are all killer bases and it's reassuring to know you like the Elwood as much as the rest.

The plan is (was?) to buy a cheap Sire V7, get my chops back in shape and save up for a premium 5 or 6. But that's when I saw the ridiculous lead times. Which I naively thought was only for Wal and Zon, but apparently it's hitting most builders now.

You can get a Sire V7 from Thomann shipped to mainland US within a week (unless shipping is slower due to the holidays).
Also if you don't want to wait for 16 weeks and can live without customizations, Reverb has quite a few shops selling Maruszczyks. It's mostly European shops, so shipping might end up being a bit high.

Nice bag but the backpack straps sit too low on case. The neck rides too high. I'm afraid of hitting doorways. So close though! I'm about to order a headless frog from Randy at Bass Spotlight. So I'll have 2 headless coming!

Adrian also has a guy that can make custom hardcases just for Adrian. You just need to email Adrian and ask about custom hardcases and I am sure Adrian will share the information. I think that the custom hardcases are about 500 euros

Here’s the only other picture I have that kind of shows the inside (no longer own that bass), not sure what you’re looking for. Hands down the Roadrunner (and others) are much better, this is a basic bag. Maybe someone else can take more pictures for you.

With money being tight, I thought getting an F Bass was a distant dream. Not after seeing Maruszczyk. After seeing/hearing a Frog, it's going to be my next purchase after picking up a cheap 4. I may not Maruszczyk club number until early 2024, BUT I WANT THAT FROG!

Those 16 week build times sounds like music to my ears... knowing that I can afford a Maruszczyk and it would hopefully take less than 6 months? Saving my pennies NOW!

My Frog was some of the best bass money I ever spent. I asked for, and got, a few non-standard feature on mine that you may be interested in.

First was a stainless steel zero fret. There was some discussion earlier in this thread about people experiencing wear on the zero fret -- I didn't think it would be an issue, but since I was still formulating my order at the time, I thought that would be a good hedge against premature wear. Second was a contoured lower bout. I like having extra room for my fingers when I play up high. They already offer that contour on the Joker, so doing it on a Frog was no problem. Third was an extra slender neck. Normally the neck is 21mm deep at the 1st fret, but for me, since I wanted a slender neck, they made it 20mm deep.

All of those features were at no extra cost to me. I did pay extra for the neck to be painted green to match the rest of the bass, and for the Luminlay knobs. All other features on my bass are available in the configurator.

One other thing -- it might help you to avoid delays if you choose pickups & preamp that are available in Europe. Someone here experienced significant delays when Maruszczyk couldn't get the Nordstrand pickups that were ordered for the bass for months. (I'm not sure they ever got them -- that order might have had to be changed. I don't remember. Someone might chime in.) I got Delano pickups and a Maruszczyk preamp, no delays.

Sometimes it's much less than 16 weeks, as some members here can atttest. My deposit was on 25/11/2021, and the bass was ready on 27/01/2022

I hope you are as happy with the Delano pickups as I am. My Elwood has the Delano Xtender pickups and Delano preamp. I have been really impressed with the Delano setup. Very hi-fi and clear, but I can also get a decent P bass vibe as well. It is pretty versatile.

Agree with you on the Delanos, mine were paired with the Noll 3 & 4-band, I’ve had them in 2 basses (1. P/MM & 2. Xtenders) and was/am impressed with both. Xtenders are really versatile both passive/active.

Good to know, thanks MCM! In my correspondence w/ Randy, he quoted 20 weeks. Which in the grand scheme of things isn't bad. But I'm champing at the bit to get playing again and there are at least half a dozen basses in stock that are super close to what I would custom order anyway.

I'm probably going to save the custom configuration for a 6 string in 2024.

Agree with you on the Delanos, mine were paired with the Noll 3 & 4-band, I’ve had them in 2 basses (1. P/MM & 2. Xtenders) and was/am impressed with both. Xtenders are really versatile both passive/active.

Mine has the Delano Times Square and Delano Sonar3 Preamp. Very transparent with a great midrange to cut thru the mix.

I am waiting on one more order that I placed on Aug. 12th and I was informed Monday from my dealer Randy that Adrian will be receiving another batch of finished orders within the next 2 weeks and mine should be one of them. I would assume your order will probably be ready then also if your bass was not waiting for any special hardware or electronics. 12-17 weeks is about the average wait for completion.
