I gotta say, as mainly a Jazz guy, the Elwood checks practically every box for me (except for maybe wanting a nitro finish, which isn't a big deal).

So I just found the Elwood X configurator and nitro is an option!

It also looks like there are quite a few Elwood's in stock and one Jazzus in stock at public-peace.de... not the easiest place to browse but definitely worth it, quite a few there in stock I would love to buy.

All, I plan on reading through all 360 pages over the next few days, but a few questions...

Long story short, have been thinking about ordering a custom bass and didn't realize so many builders have 2-3+ year wait times. Ouch. Dingwall, Adamovic, Moollon... so many seem to be in the 2+ year range.

So I stumble upon the Maruszczyk thread here and think hey, here's the bass I can't pronounce, I know I've seen some European guys play them, remember they sound great, so I check them out online... holy smokes, they're beautiful!

And double holy smokes, they look super affordable for what they offer (like half the price of a typical boutique).

So, some questions --

Maruszczyk doesn't appear to have his/their own site. Do they have a US distributor?

General quality, fit/finish, etc -- I'm assuming very good? Better than top of the line production Fender?

Speaking of production, is Maruszczyk a 'production' bass or custom-build only?

Finally, most important question -- what's the wait/build time like?

Now how the heck do I decide which one to buy first? How do I tell the wife I need two basses?

And for my American tongue -- how do I pronounce Maruszczyk? "Mar-uh-sheck"?

Maruszczyk doesn't appear to have his/their own site. Do they have a US distributor?

Randy at Bass Spotlight is a prominent US distributor. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. Last time I looked the 30" transparent two tone blue Cazpar I'm presently waiting to have shipped was on the landing page .

The infamous "configurator" is located at Home | Public Peace Customshop. Be warned! You will fall into an abyss of bass porn, all of which can be yours. Go there and start selecting the options you want for your custom built Jazzus, or whatever. Including a nitro finish.

Finally, most important question -- what's the wait/build time like?

Best news... The typical build time quote is 15-16 weeks. Some among this group have actually gotten their notice of build completion earlier. The "notice of completion" is the also infamous "couch pic", many of which get posted here and you'll see reference to them among the posts. Adrian (over in Poland) takes pics of every bass in front of the brown couch. You'll see them on the fb site as well.

This is pretty normal just go into the details and look to see where the package is right now. If it's not updated at the moment, you'll get updated in the next day or so shouldn't be a big deal. Typically this happens and then it magically shows up a day or two later.

Unfortunately, I had to sell all of my gear except for my recording setup + humble Epiphone 339 when moving back to the mainland US. So I've been bass-less for almost a year.

The plan is (was?) to buy a cheap Sire V7, get my chops back in shape and save up for a premium 5 or 6. But that's when I saw the ridiculous lead times. Which I naively thought was only for Wal and Zon, but apparently it's hitting most builders now.

But now that I found Maruszczyk, I see they have a blue sparkle Elwood for $1100 which looks awesome. Would so much rather have than the Sire, but 48 months at 0% w/ SW is hard to beat.

With money being tight, I thought getting an F Bass was a distant dream. Not after seeing Maruszczyk. After seeing/hearing a Frog, it's going to be my next purchase after picking up a cheap 4. I may not Maruszczyk club number until early 2024, BUT I WANT THAT FROG!

Those 16 week build times sounds like music to my ears... knowing that I can afford a Maruszczyk and it would hopefully take less than 6 months? Saving my pennies NOW!

Since my first one is a 5 string I definitely needed to add a 4 string which I planned to build and order on the configurator. I fell in love with the Pilichowski signature frog and found one in stock, so my second Maruszczyk is arriving tomorrow. I have already been playing in the configurator for a third

Question: if there's available stock at public-peace.de I won't have to order thru a US dealer and can order direct, correct? I'm looking at this beauty:

There are two others that are gorgeous and would buy in a heartbeat, but they don't appear to have carbon rods, at least according to the listings:

For those w/ necks without carbon reinforcement, are they stable? I can pretty much stand nitpicks on a bass, but I don't want necks moving on me.

Speaking of not wanting to do adjustments, is the truss rod accessible so you don't need to remove the neck?

If I can move some of my Nikon glass I may be able to order a Maruszczyk by Christmas!

One last question I forgot -- I can exclude the 19% EU tax from the price, correct?

Just... wow. Woke up this morning, expecting to order a Sire. If I end up with a Maruszczyk by New Year's I think I'll faint. And I can even spell and pronounce it correctly now!

Can you imaging my horror when I realized I had an update in my fedex text updates that added a tracking number for an order of dog bones and I didn't realize I wasn't tracking my bass shipment?
So instead of my 5 string Frog being delivered today I received a ayummy pile of peanut butter dog bones.
The Frog is still stalled in France

I have had a lot of great basses (Lull, Roscoe, R Bass, MTD, Lakland, Clement, numerous Fenders and more). I just picked up a Blueburst Elwood L from another TalkBass member a couple of weeks ago and I can't be more pleased. It is a great sounding, playing and looking bass. The quality is excellent! They are great basses at a great price! Highly recommended!

I guess I need to ask to officially join the club now!
