I'm experiencing the FedEx curse right now myself. My bass arrived at a FedEx depot in my home town last Thursday. On Friday morning the tracking info had a note saying that a delivery attempt failed because "...the business at the address was not open". Well, the address is that of my house, so I figured the driver went wrong somehow. I contacted FedEx and was assured the error would be rectified and the bass would be delivered today. As well, there was a note on the tracking info saying "per the sender's instructions the package would not be delivered until Wednesday, Dec 7", which is one day short of a full week since it arrived at a depot within 10 miles of my house. I emailed Adrian and explained that I was led to believe that the sender had placed a restriction on the deliver date and asked that he please remove the limitation. He responded right away and said he hadn't done that and expressed disappointment in FedEx's nonsense with his deliveries lately. I explained all of this in my live calls as well. I made 3 calls to FedEx and spoke with 3 live people, all of whom apologized and assured me the bass would be delivered today. So, today...nothing. I contacted again them evening and asked rather strongly that the actual whereabouts of the bass be made known to me. Turns out despite all the assurances that it would be on a truck for delivery today, it was not, but instead was in some holding container at the depot. I have been assured that all of this has been made known to the depot supervisor and the bass will be on a delivery truck tomorrow morning. As a bonus of my latest call, I was told that my shipment has a case number (different than the tracking number) and that I can get directly in touch with the person I spoke with this evening by quoting the case number. She knows all the details and has assured me that she will take care of me.

Silver lining... I ordered the bass 19 weeks ago in anticipation that it would be a birthday present to myself. Tomorrow is in fact my birthday. So the bass will arrive on the day of if it is delivered tomorrow :thumbsup:. That would be extra special, so here's hoping.

It's so frustrating when things don't go as planned with shipping. I hope you get a wonderful Birthday present on your doorstep tomorrow :bassist:

I ordered a 5 string Frog that was in stock on the Public Peace website that was pretty much the same as what I would have custom ordered. I figured I would to a custom order for a 4 string after. I decided I wanted the Pilichowski signature Frog which turns out that one was just sent to a dealer for stock, so I got that one right away as well. The funny thing is I ordered the 4 string almost a week after the 5 string and got it almost a week before. I will post a picture later tonight.

Nice, I'm doing similar -- I love a handful that are in stock. There's one 5 string (Jazzus) and two 4 strings (Elwood Ls) that are pretty close to what I would custom order. Of course, my own dithering/indecision is causing me grief (first world problems).

The 5 is almost perfect. Xtenders (huge bonus), carbon rods (double huge), awesome finish (very important). Has binding which isn't my thing but I can live with that. The thing is... I haven't touched a bass in probably 18 months and I've never been much of a 5 guy.

The first 4 is perfect. Finish/veneer is to die for. Carbon rods. But it's got a single and a hum FE which would probably be my third choice. Not bad, but not my first choice.

Second 4 string is nearly as perfect. Incredible top. Two SBC 4 HE/S pups which would be a close second just behind the Xtenders. But I'm still waiting to hear back if it has carbon rods. And it's chambered which isn't a selling point for me at all. If it has carbon rods I would buy it in a heartbeat.

To complicate matters, I saw a new 5 string incoming. It's perfect -- it looks exactly like I would configure it. It's a 5 and I don't care... I want/need to bite the 5 bullet at some point.

Outside of those four mentioned, there are probably half a dozen or so in stock I would be more than happy to have vs what I could afford vs Sweetwater.

It's good to have options! But I'm waffling. I'm kind of glad there's a time delay w/ Adrian and will probably take a day or so for Randy to gather all the info for my questions. Will give me time to sort things out lol.

Be demanding with FedEx, I was expecting a delivery during the Summer, I requested the package to be hold it to a location near to my house since on the delivery date I was going to be out of the country. They sent me a notification that the package was to big and was returned to the sender. After several calls finally I could speak to a supervisor that located the package and put a hold on a FedEx distribution center 45 minutes from my location. Then I retrieved it. They messed up Big Time. I hope you received it.

All acclimated and it's a keeper. It plays excellent and is SO comfortable to play. This is the first time I have ever played a bass with a wenge fingerboard, I really like the way it plays. I couldn't be happier with it. This will be the one I pick up to play everyday for sure.

How's the wenge feel/sound? Looks like it sits between rosewood and ebony.

I do like the smaller body of that Sputnik, sounds pretty good passive, but may benefit from a little low/mid boost. The challenge is going to be finding a preamp that you can effectively implement with the three knobs.

#1, the Jazzus gets the nod because of the Xtenders, Delano pre, beautiful finish and no chambering. Binding is just "meh" for me. I really, really like the pups and finish. Love the Wal MkI reminiscence. It's also the second cheapest.

#2, the Elwood gets the nod because it's probably my first pick overall except for the pickups. I'd prefer the Xtenders or HE over the FE. My only minor nitpick beside the pups (and being tied for most expensive) is the non-matching headstock. With a bass this beautiful it doesn't matter.

#3, beautiful bass, matching headstock, cheapest, Delano pre, really like the pups but still haven't heard if they have carbon rods. If Randy says yes, it has carbon rods, I may just buy this.

#4, again, love the finish, Delano pre, really like the pups and I'm a sucker for a traditional Jazz shaped body with a maple board. 18mm spacing is just "ok" but would rather have 19mm. Also tied for most expensive.

I know it comes down to personal preference (and how can you possibly know what I like?) but open to thoughts and ideas. I'm gonna torture myself over this until tomorrow.

Definitely #1 for me… the Delanos are awesome and the top/color is very cool!
But I'm a bit biased because I play em every day :thumbsup:

I always though carbon make the notes a little stiffer sounding, not as round.
As for dead spots a well made bass should never have dead spots.

I agree but I kinda like how the carbon tightens things a little (imho, Zon, Modulus etc too much). But I live in the high desert/low humidity so I'm concerned about movement. Anyone know how long Maruszczyk ages their wood?
