I swapped to flatwounds on my Jake again! I'm way too indecisive, but hey, now I can at least swap the string set and adjust the trussrod in under 5 minutes, that might be worth something. There's just something about those daddario chromes on a P bass that clicks.

Put in an order on a headless Frog 5-string, ash body (black exposed grain matte finish), padouk fb, bass culture pups, all passive w/serial single coils and parallel switches a week and a half ago from Donovan at Fret Spot...10 week ETA give or take a couple. I find that extremely quick for a custom but nevertheless the waiting still sucks ...CAN'T. WAIT.

I'm pretty sure they use their own brand of "maruszczyk" strings, but I kinda doubt that they make them in house. Probably contracted from a bigger string manufacturer? Are there any german or polish brands that could be making them? I'm not sure.

The only brand that comes to my mind is Warwick, but I don't think they make their own strings either (or do they?)

I remember asking Adrian some time ago about their flats when I ordered my Joker bass.....

I seem to remember that he said that they were their own brand and that they were made in Italy....

Can't swear to this though....It was a while back...

Hey guys, I've recently been curious enough to start researching my next bass purchase. I'm pretty sure that what I really want is a more classic/vintage(ish) style P to pair with my G&L SB-2t. I've been really intrigued at the idea of a Maruszczyk Jake because of the bevy of options that Adrian offers along with the incredibly competitive price point. I've narrowed it down to something very specific which is a burgundy mist color with a nitro finish. So I have a couple of questions. First, could any one speak to the quality of the nitro finish that Maruszczyk would do, and has anyone ordered an instrument in that color? Also, could anyone speak to the quality of the proprietary split coil pups they offer? One last question, those that have ordered from the States, are there any tax rates that I should expect that aren't included in the final price(noticed something about taxes in the build simulation I did)? Thanks guys, I've heard great things about these instruments but I obviously need to do my due diligence if I'm not going to play before paying.

Oh wow, can't wait to see pics and hear your thoughts! I was goona go alder w/maple board but the ash/padouk reviews I've heard sounded so darn good plus my only other electric bass has an alder body albeit rosewood fb...nonetheless I wanted a wood combo of something different. Do post pics when ya get it, congrats!

Question for the owners...any one ever play/own an ash bodied Frog or Paddock w/Ebony board as well as one w/Padouk board? Tonal differences experiences please? Was contemplating going ebony but the padouk not only looks stunning but sounds amazing to my ears. Just curios, thx in advance!

Get what you like! Ebony is tighter grain, so will have more highs and crisper attack, with good fundamentals. Padauk should have more mids and warmer.

Got this a few months ago from another TB'r. It's an Elwood L lined Fretless. 33" scale. Certainly the "prettiest" bass I've ever owned. Very light. The build quality appears very good and the sound is GREAT! I can't really get enough of it and have been using it every chance I get...even with tunes probably better suited to a fretted. Only problem is, I'm afraid I'm going to scuff it up. Of course, you all know that's not my couch.
