I am now just over 8 weeks on the wait for my 30" Mr Tee build...Getting excited and hoping I get a couch pic by the end of March....fingers crossed 
I put in for a second Frog.
For having 9 basses, with some wide diversity therein (upright, fretless, acoustic), I don't have anything with a P style pickup.
I debated and debated black transparent versus charcoal burst and finally went with charcoal, but I asked if they could make it less 'bursty.' I just want to see a bit more wood grain, but also want a big dark v red contrast. I also plan to put some red knobs of it. Still deciding whether to get actual Padauk ones or plastic. I feel like the black AllParts plastic ones with red lettering just look inherently cool. But wood would go with the unpainted wood theme.

Very cool! It will be interesting to see how a subtle burst turns out. +1 for some Padauk wood knobs. I am a huge fan of matching wood knobs to the fretboard on custom Basses.
Try this place for wood knobs. I have had the owner make me a couple of sets for 2 of my other Marusczcyk builds and he does a great job and his prices are reasonable for how good the quality is.

I think Im persuaded. Those look great. And I also was just looking at my current Frog and note that the knobs are a little recessed. That all weighs towards regular dome knobs.Very cool! That is indeed ash. And yes, I specifically ordered ash because it pops through really well. You'll like it when that bass arrives.
The burst just looks a bit more dramatic in the configurator, that's all.
Forgive me for asking when I know I could pull a knob off my current Frog if I could figure out where my wife or kid has carelessly thrown my calipers, but do you or does anyone know whether Maruszczyk uses 6mm or 1/4inch shafts? I want to assume 6mm because I hate non-metric stuff with a passion.

Yes, they use 6mm shaft on the control knobs from Maru.
And I can confirm, as I found out the hard way. A few weeks ago I decided to install an Obsidianwire kit while changing the pickups. And then found out that the knobs wouldn't fit.

Huh. I'd never heard of Obsidianwire, so I searched them, and read a bit. I just pulled the trigger on a kit for a P bass body that's been sitting here for a long time doing nothing.And I can confirm, as I found out the hard way. A few weeks ago I decided to install an Obsidianwire kit while changing the pickups. And then found out that the knobs wouldn't fit.
The Bass Channel had a video about it and so did Darrell Braun Guitar, and they were raving about it which made GAS kick in.
So when I ordered a Warmoth J bass, the choice was easy. Later on I bought that short scale Fender J in the pic above along with a set of DiMarzios. Around the same time I also came to the conclusion that the Nordstrand pickups in the charcoal Elwood weren't quite it, and decided to get Seymour Duncans. So I bought 2 more Obsidianwire kits to go along with the new sets of pickups.
When the kit was installed in the Fender I found out that the knobs wouldn't fit. The Obsidianwire has US spec 1/4 inch shafts whereas the Fender is MIJ, so US Fender knobs were ordered for both the Fender J and the Elwood. Oh yeah, and I also had to install a Fender control plate on the Elwood due to the dimensions of the Obsidianwire. But luckily I had one of those.

Does any have experience with the Sputnik model? I configured one on the site and I’m wondering if it would be with me. Obviously, one would never be available to try so it would be a blind purchase based on reputation alone.

I've been a semi-pro guitarist for over 30 years but have been transitioning to bass more seriously in recent months. Anyway, I picked up this wonderful used, short scale Jake P from France last month and have been over the moon with it. My first bass was an Ibanez SR1300 Premium that plays and sounds great, but P basses and the short scale just feels more like home to me. The build quality is excellent and it's light and extremely comfortable to play. Procuring an Elmood C is in my near future. I would never have heard of Maruszczyk if it wasn't for this forum, and very much appreciate all the great info there is to be had here.

Welcome! Your experience of learning about and eventually owning a Maru bass largely because of this forum and the fine community of people who support it certainly echoes mine and I suspect that of many others here. Congrats on your nice looking bass. I'm certain you'll find plenty of encouragement for acquiring another one here!
