Ok—Delano pickups and an Audere classic 4 band eq. It took me a few days to figure out the controls. I did contact the builder and Adrian got back to me within a few hours. I’m digging the bass, and am really impressed with the company!
There is a fairly Brand New (signed off by Adrian on 3-07-25) crazy Jake 5 TB Living Colour at a local store.
I have no affiliation, I just saw it and raised my eyebrows. I scoured these pages and did not see a posting or NBD for it. They didn’t even make a video for it…like it slipped under everyone’s radar…
I’m just spreading the word.

I made a new 80's Bass cover video with my 32" Cazpar the other day. This has been the best Cazpar build I have had so far. Such an easy Bass to play and sounds great with the EMGX's and LHZ preamp. This Bass line is fun to play also.

I think it might be the first Leaf demo they've done.
The bass plays fantastic and I love the 33" scale. There was an unfortunate cosmetic detail they missed (despite thorough coordination) that can't be corrected, but other than that, I'm happy with how things turned out.

Does anyone have a Bruno Blue example they could share? I want to eventually put in an order for a 5-string fretless in this color, but a real example would be nice. I don't doubt the ability of the configurator; it does look like Bruno Blue Burst is ordered more often than Bruno Blue.
+2 on the DCBs. I replaced Delano SBCs in my Frog with these. The mids and top end are much clearer. They seem a bit punchy compared to Nordy Zenblades or Dingwall FDVs but similarly transparent. They are plenty bright for distortion but not as crispy as Dingwall FD3Ns. Some other brands ('May. . .' something) spec these quite far apart for a burpy sound, not too different from a burpy jazz bass. To my ears this muddles the B string and I wonder if spacings like this account for some people describing the pickups as 'dark'; maybe compared to FD3Ns, but just about everything is deep in darkness compared to those.

When I ordered my Elwood four years ago I ordered it with standard tuners. They stayed in tune great, but they were very resistant turning, up to the point were they felt stuck sometimes. So I always wanted to change them, but I wanted a drop in replacement, no extra work needed (I am an idiot, I would easily be capable of breaking the neck in half trying to drill a new hole).
So I wrote Adrian and he went out of his way not only to recommend me a replacement but to guide me through the installation, he even shot a short video.
For future reference: the Hipshot B7 are almost drop in replacements for the standard clover tuners. They both come with four holes which almost line up perfectly, but not quite. I installed them by using just two screws instead of four, always using the diagonal opposites. Worked just fine.
Considering weight, the Hipshots weigh exactly the same as the standard tuners. Tuning stability hasn't been a problem before and it isn't now. The Hipshots feel a lot better.
It has been a pricey upgrade just for that, but it has been bugging me since forever and now it doesn't, so I am happy.

I may be joining the club. I just bought a used Elwood L5p from Guitar Center and will arrive on Thursday. It looks like it's this one:
They weighed for me and it's 7.6 lbs. Theoretically this is the perfect bass for me as I like the tighter string spacing, passive electronics and prefer them on the lighter side.
The nice thing about ordering from GC is I can try it out and return it if it doesn't work for me. It's hard to find one of these anywhere near me to try out...

It showed up last night. It's a beautiful bass and very light. Pickups are really high definition. As with any GC bass, the action was terrible. The neck is to straight and the action is high. So it buzzed on the lower frets and had high action on the upper frets. Also had some fret sprout.
So I tried adjusting the action this afternoon and found the truss rod will not move either direction. It is locked. So it's going back.
is it true these basses neck require constant truss rod adjustment? there’s a jake 5 near me for 1300 which seems like a deal but i have seen a few comments that concern me
I've not had that issue with either my Frog or Cazpar. They are super-sensitive and respond favorably with just a slight nudge of the TR. I can not confirm but there is speculation the dual-acting rods are installed upside down which is why they work in a reverse fashion. My Cazpar is quite stable but it has a 5 lam roasted neck.
Jake 5 sounds like a great deal. Bonus points as it's nearby so you can try it out first.

Here in Germany my Elwood with roasted maple neck needs adjustment twice a year, in the beginning of winter and summer - like all my other instruments do as well.
I've had my Jake 30" for a few years now and have not had to adjust my flamed Maple neck and fretboard. Very stable. I also have a 32" Cazpar that is a year old now and no neck adjustment needed so far. The Cazpar is a 3 piece roasted Maple w/Maple veneer neck and Wenge fretboard. I ordered both of them with carbon rods in the neck for reinforcement though. $1300 is a good deal. Ask the owner if there are carbon rods in the neck. I also keep all my Basses in my little music room and have a humidifier that keeps the room at a constant 40-45% humidity, So that helps since I live in Arizona and it is pretty dry here.

I've had my Jak since 2017 and a have made minor adjustments twice when switching to different strings. Plain old maple neck with no rods.
I have 2) Elwood's and a Mopped B 5 string, none has required more than a slight adjustment for ambient weather conditions or occasional setups. They have been rock solid.
