Anyone know of a good source for a case that would fit this bass? I'm currently using the case that came with my Lakland Hollowbody 30, which fits quite nicely, but leaves my Lakland without a home.

A recent convert to the 32" world, just picked up the third .. a b+w 32" sx jazz for $89+ . Please give me a membership, when you get a chance.

Mod ideas welcome, too. I'd like to find flats that fit the 32" Squier Precision.
New pickguards would be nice. Any idea who sells these sizes?

OK here goes. I have never done family pictures. But thought I would do one of the whole family. I have varied taste but my go to ones are the medium P and Jazz.

I got nothing in this, but when I bought my Fender Japan Jazz Special medium scaler - from the same guy a few months back - it is this one:

I had a lot of requests to buy it. This one looks to be VERY similar:

Mine is active and this one is passive - and the pickups are angled and look to be different models - as you can see the poles, which generally indicates on these models that it is passive..

Also a switch and one less knob and no gold hardware.

This bass is rare, and should be considered by any fan of the 1980's Fender Japan Jazz Specials.

Is it possible to get one built for that price or am i crazy? Thanks for showing all of your great basses and all the good info.

Seems unlikely a custom could be bought used for under $800, let alone new. Supposedly the Warwick Rockbass Corvette medium scale 5 is supposed to become available in the US shortly, at around $600.

got this nice '80's E Series Medium Scale Japanese Precision, completely stock just sitting here.

everything is perfectly good, but i'd like to give it a more distintive voice.
Had ordered a '62 Fender p/u for another project.

Unsure if i should put the '62 in there.

Anyone with experience with this?

To the best of my knowledge (and I don't have a full scale Jazz Bass pickup here to compare) the pickup poles on a standard j pickup may not line up with the closer string spacing on a medium scale. Just be sure that you check that out before routing. The full size pickup may need to be angled in order to maximize the pole being directly under the vibration of the string.

Otherwise it is just routing a hole and installing, and of course, wiring it up.

i would only be replacing the precision p/u, leaving the rest stock... except for putting on flatwound strings.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Again, be sure of the pickup poles. If you look closely at a single coil pickup on a Squire Vintage Modified Telecaster bass, due to the medium scale neck and slightly closer string spacing - the pickup itself is the same size as full scale, but the poles are moved closer together - to the proper position within the pickup - so that they are directly under the strings. That makes it not advisable to swap the pick up out with a full scale one, unless the loss of fidelity and "closeness" doesn't bother you, of course.

I would imagine that the split coils would be a similar issue, but I have not compared them one on one. I would take the bass to a music store and compare the pickup poles one on one before the purchase. Then, you can buy the pickup wherever you want if you are sure it's a fit.

This is probably a similar bass to yours. It's a medium scale MIJ 1980's precision. When I decided to go with the Duncan Basslines, I swapped out the bridge to a standard one. The poles/string relationship stayed fine - it basically moved the E and G strings out toward the edges of the neck ever so slightly - but not enough to bother.

So that could be a solution too, but you may want to keep yours original and not swap out the bridge.

I put the 62 in my mij p. I can't speak to sting spacing as I drilled in a cv bridge. I did have to bend the metal edges of the bottom plate in order to fit the pup in the compartment. It sounds great and may be a little more hot than the stock pup.

Hi. I am new here. I figured this thread might be the best place to ask this question. What are the current production offerings of 32" scale basses with rosewood or ebony fretboards? Ideally with a P or P/J pickup configuration. The current Fender 32" offerings appear to have only maple boards.

have only seen rosewood on japanese 32" fenders... ebay is filled with jazzes. old arias out there.
