The Official Medium Scale Bass Club

What ya think? Take a medium scale sx neck and put it on sx short scale p/j?
(Both are about 2 /14 at the 20th fret).... slide the bridge back a tad, if necessary.
Then... Sell the short scale jazz leftovers for $100. Left with a medium scale p/j for $140?

Good afternoon.... Crickets.
Yup, it is "en route".
Ordered short scale SX fretless p/j from Rondo.
Will put on a neck from an SX medium scale.

Could come up with a tasty medium scale p/j on the cheap.

En tempus veritas.

Got me to thinkin'.... what if 50 of us got a luthier to make medium scale rosewood necks to fit into to some of these SX P-basses?

Anyone? Anyone?

Finally finished these, with apologies to those who may have seen them elsewhere. Been a long time coming - but it is interesting using a full size alder body on the PBass with the old school Fender medium scale neck - frets driven right in with no fingerboard.

And my re-imagined T-Bass in medium scale. Finishes by Pat Wilkens and modifications/set-up by Patrick Cummings of Brian Moore and iguitar. Really digging the piezos in the bridge on this.

Both of them are super cool but that bottom one is fantastic looking. I'm going to try and do something similar.

Hows the frakenbass going? I was up late last night contemplating the same idea and was pleasantly surprised to see this thread this morning.

Like many, I bought my 32" SX Jazz because of my small hands. My 34" P Bass was starting to be uncomfortable, and as such a change had to be made. Now that I have the J, I want a PJ. Low and behold, I can't find a low cost medium scale PJ and so was curious if the 30" bodies are the same size as the 32" bodies. I was about ready to start modding my J to make a P fit in the neck pickup, but pickguards for these basses are hard to find. Have any of you found a tort pickguard that will fit on these basses?

A recent convert to the 32" world, just picked up the third .. a b+w 32" sx jazz for $89+ :). Please give me a membership, when you get a chance.

Mod ideas welcome, too. I'd like to find flats that fit the 32" Squier Precision.
New pickguards would be nice. Any idea who sells these sizes?
Other suggestions? Thanks.
if you're still looking for medoim scale flat wound strings, they have a few.

Ah yeah. Screaming lucy is always ahead of the curve. Nice to see it up and running. Where did you get the p/j pups?

it arrived with the j. i've got enough spare parts around here to choke a horse. i just pulled a p and some tuners from the ol' bin. it's a budget bass for sure. if i had any brains i'd assemble a sunburst p/j like yours, stick with 2 sxs and get rid of all the rest.

that being said, it plays great! and sounds very, very good.
