A quick search revealed no dedicated movie threads, there may be a good reason for that, but as dedicated movie lover I personally would like to see one around here...(there are definatly enough wierd ''OFFICIAL'' threads out there)

So basically, just list off your favourite movies, and maybe some reasons why you consider them the best, or even if you don't consider them the best, why you like 'em so much...
And hell throw in some movies you hate as well... :hiding:
I also thought it might be a good place to give people heads up about new movies and such...
I'll just list off a few of my own favourites(in no order at all...)

Scarface-I mean, c'mon it's just a classic!:bassist:

Collateral-Some of the most original and enthralling acting and screenplay I've ever seen...

The Breakfast Club-Yeha I know what you're thinkin'. It ain't a classic but it sure is fun, especially if you're a teengaer who can relate to the story(as all teens can in some way)

The Dark Knight-Right well I know there's been loads of talk about his around here already so I'm not even going to right about why I like it anymore

Well for some reason I'm after blanking on what my other favourites are:help:, but I will say this, never, EVER, go to see The Love Guru...:spit:

C'mon people, start posting your love and/or hate piles!

A quick list of movies I like:

o Braveheart (1995)
o Memento (2000) <------- must see
o Cinderella Man (1995)
o The Last Samurai (2003)
o The Seventh Cross (1944)
o Casino Royale (2006)

Well i sadly have not seen many "classic" movies or super great drama/feel-good movies or whatever... i mostly like comedies. I love stoner movies so:

Pineapple Express
Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle
Knocked Up

Also some just bizzare stupid funny films like:

Zoolander
Anchorman: Legend of Ron Burgundy
Taladega Nights: Ballad of Ricky Bobby

As for Non-Comedies I'll say:

Good Will Hunting (I just loved this movie so much, I love Robbin Williams and really connected with some of the characters in the movie)
Dead Poet Society (Yet another great movie with Robbin Williams that really love.)
Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks... 'nough said)
Dark Knight

Family Guy : Blue Harvest

John Carpenters : THe Thing, havent sen it in so long so I figured I'd watch it again. You really could take this movie somewhere elese in a good remake.

Harold and Kumar : Escape from Guantanamo Bay , the current trend in stoner movies is interesting..this one is so stupid, you have to laugh.

Shawshank Redemption Obvious classic

Alien, I watch it for the cinematography and I like the "making of" about it, tells you theres a lot going into even a lowe'ish budget movie.

im big into movies, so here we go...

americna beauty
princess bride
the adventurous of baron von munchosen
no country for old men
the big lebowski
the royal tennenbaums
the life aquatic
pulp fiction
resevoir dogs
the committments
godfather 1
billy madison
forest gump
philadelphia
there will be blood
braveheart
apocalypse now
blazing saddles
the departed

I just rented "Doomsday", a new release, and I have to say it was the worst movie I have seen in a long, long time. The dialog was so terrible that I actually could not understand how the actors managed to blurt out their lines without laughing. Every visual element was blatantly stolen from other high-profile movies. The scenery was chewed so badly by the main actors that it's a wonder there was any scenery left by the end. The protagonist was never given a chance to become likable (until debatably at the very end). The plot was so thin I seriously thought it must have been one of those movies that's based on a Nintendo game; but it's not.

IMO there was only one redeeming scene in the entire movie, and that was when a large-breasted woman taking a bath grabs a large automatic gun from behind the tub and starts blasting away.

Gosh... favorite movies? I like so many...

- Dr. Strangelove
- Searching for Bobby Fischer
- Wall-E
- Leon the Professional
- Where Eagles Dare
- Escape From Alcatraz
- Hard Candy
- Ben Hur
- There Will Be Blood
- Pulp Fiction
- The Big Lebowski
- Clerks
- Pretty much any Mel Brooks film (High Anxiety, HotW, Young Frankenstein, Silent Movie, etc)
- Alien(s)
- The Deer Hunter

I also love 70s and 80s action B-movies, exploitation films, and I have an extensive collection of zombie flicks!

A read of movies you guys are posting reminded me of more that I love:bassist:

Casino Royale, I love that movie for so many reasons. It rescued the whole Bond franchise that was failing miserably(the last decent Bond before Casino Royale was Golden IMO, all the rest between that and 'Royale were pretty much the same)

Pulp Fiction, Shawshank Redemption, Dog Soldiers, Walking Tall, Kill Bills, Serenity, Mission Impossible 2, Mortal Kombat, The Die Hards, Welcome To The Jungle, Scarface, Blade 1&2(Blade:Trinity was just so... average), Rock Star, The Wind That Shakes The Barely, Michael Collins, American Pie, Anchorman, Gladiator, Clerks 1 and 2, Pirates Of The Caribbean 1 and 3, Balls of Fury, I Am Legend, I Robot, V For Vendetta, Family Guy : Blue Harvest(horribly under-rated, and I'm not even much of a SW fan), Braveheart, The Princess Bride, Leon

And who can forget Ferris Bueller's Day Off!:D:D
Good Will Hunting (I just loved this movie so much, I love Robbin Williams and really connected with some of the characters in the movie)

Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks... 'nough said)

Gotta agree with those choices, I only saw GWH a few months ago, totally blew my mind...
And even though I saw Forest gump a lot when I was younger, I just never really understood properly(for obvious resons) however I watched it last year and was gobsmacked...
