The Official MTD USA Thread

Hi there,
I've just noticed in the manual enclosed with my '08 MTD (and on my '07 MTD too) that it talks about a push/pull volume knob to choose to run it either passive or active bass.
As far as I know my MTD is only active, and the volume knob is not a push/pull knob.
Have you noticed the same thing in your manuals?
Or some of you can run it either active or passive?
It is not mentionned in my '06 MTDs manuals and they're only active.

Just asking.

Maybe it was an accidental "Cut and Paste" from the Saragota USA book?

Modulus is notoriously guilty of doing that. :)

I've never seen a stock MTD USA w/ active/passive.

Hey guys, just thought I'd share this with you. A friend of mine shot a video with his digital camera at our last gig. It was that once in a blue moon gig where I decided to put down my Nordy and play my 535, so I thought I'd share it with you all.

MTD 535 - MB LMII - GK Neo 212

You can tell the video was shot with a digital camera. There's break up in the mic, the acoustics in the room were horrific, and the video is uselessly dark, but you can hear it, especially if your speakers are decent. Here's the bass in question (minus the adorable fluffy kitten).

Aww, that is the cutest kitten.

Nice MTD my friend!

Anyone using lighter guage strings on your US MTDs? If so any soundclips available? I've always used 45-135x on my 535 but I was wondering what results would lighter guage strings give with the 35" scale...

I actually prefer Mike's SS 130 Medium set on my 535. I believe the rest of the strings are the same gauge as the Custom Medium set. I've never tried anything lighter on the rest of the strings.

Hey all. Well. Today was one of the best days in my bass acquisition career. I finally got an MTD 535!!!!! :hyper:

I had one back in 2002, but had to sell it for financial reasons. But now my dream again is being lived.

The bass has some good wear, but I will call it mojo. :D The tone is incredible. It is huge, full and clean all in the same pluck of the string. The fingerstyle tone is unmatched.

The serial is almost worn off, but it looks like it says #562

Here are some pics of my new (used) baby!!!!

Vic,
Yes, the body is tulip and the top is myrtle. Maple board/neck 21-fret'er.

Seriously, my first one did not even come close to this tone. It had a mahogany body though.

Thanks for the compliments. I am truly in love.

I might ask for a number. This is something worth asking for one about.

Peace,
Chris
