and it's Alder, Blackened redwood top, maple, Rosewood fingerboard. Beautiful, über-Fender sound, bottom end for DAYS, esp. with palm muting....incredible bass, and getting better with age.

It looks like I'm about to take the plunge, will post pictures once a deal is done - hopefully in the next 48 hours.

Incoming: Marilyn 535, chambered alder body, redwood top, maple neck, ebony f/b. It won't be with me for a week at least and is costing a small fortune what with import duty/taxes to the UK, but I think that with a landmark birthday approaching I can justify this one "mid-life crisis" bass, as I've taken to calling it

Well, I saw this come up for sale in the classifieds for a killer deal and passing it up just seemed unconscionable:

Hi Vic, it is new, although I didn't order it. I found it while surfing for (MTD bass) porn - pretty much the wood combo I'd have chosen myself, plus it was a Marilyn too. Too tempting not to jump on it really!

AWESOME!!!! You got one of the Audi basses!! Oh man, that thing is going to friggin' blow your mind when you get it.

Dude... make sure the first time you plug it in, you have it connected to a full rig, and give it some volume. If you're married/family, make sure it's when that's "ok". There's just nothing like the sound of a brand new MTD with fresh strings, especially a bigger sounding one like the Marilyns.

A word of warning... make sure you have plenty of clean underwear handy... you'll need it.

i'm joking was playing my Ash/Maple 535 at rehearsal today, and I can't wait to hear this Marilyn

Hi,

I just happened to stumble on this (a few pages back.)

This was a custom order I did with Mike. This bass killed. Believe it or not, it was still very MTD-like just a bit more traditional sounding. It was a really cool bass. Would love to see it for sale some day.

And -1 on the pickup covers! I really find those covers detract from the look of an otherwise perfectly good MTD.

I really enjoy the "human flesh" effect of the top/peghead.
