as soon as I hear back from mike on the scale length I'll post.....
It's a 634-24 so yup 34 scale .... Gotta find out the string spacing though... Hopefully not 17mm
Gonna give it a shot..... Don't see many 34in scale 17mm spacing mtd's ,.....if it doesn't work out I'm just afraid I'll be stuck with her.... Who knows maybe someone who likes 34 scale and 17 spacing will be interested in it.... They def don't come around often
Congratulations on the 534 - that's a lovely top! Interesting to see the battery compartment going all the way to the edge of the cutaway.
After having the opportunity to test out my alder/maple/rosewood 535 on a couple of more gigs this week I can confidently say that I am completely sold on this bass. I love it - it's fat and punchy, warm but not without some classic MTD bite and it sits wonderfully in the mix (I mention this last point because one of the bass' previous owners had originally put the bass up for sale as his sound guy couldn't get it to work in the mix). Jerry - you were right!

I'm a guy who loves 34" and 17mm - in fact I prefer 16.5 mm.
That's what I have on my 5's. The wider spacing and longer scale length are what keep me preferring old Tobias basses over new MTD's. I'm guessing there are a few more like me. Trust me, it'll be a player, and if the ergonomics don't suit you, they'll suit someone just fine.
And that is one stunning bass.
Yeah we are all different for sure... I've got giant paws lol.... Anything under 18 is tough for me....... But I'm sure someone who always wanted a mtd but was put off because the 35 scale and wider spacing will love this one for sure..... They don't come around too often at all...??

Is it a standard Bart pre or customized? It seems there's a lot more usable range with that preamp than on standard Bart preamps. I know his pickups are custom but I'm not sure about the pre.Anyone have a soundclip of a marilyn?
