The Official MTD USA Thread

In a recent reply he suggested me to consider that wood as the body for my "piano-like" tone enthusiasm, but it is heavy. Michael is experimenting some kind of pine (?) wood as the body and can't wait to hear the result...

Interesting! I can't wait to see and hear about that one.

As for me, I am very weight-tolerant, so makore should work out great.

By the way, have any one seen a MTD with dot or even blocks on the fingerboard?
Seems that none of MTDs I've seen have such features.

Two of my MTDs have dots.

Marilyn #3 has purpleheart dots that you can't really see unless you are fairly close:

And my 435 has MOP (abalone?) dot inlays:

So I pulled my bass out of the classifieds and closed the thread...this baby is staying home:hyper:! Had surgery last week to remove the good ol' gall baldder (OUCH!). Been home ever since playing the heck out of of it and have somewhat "tamed" the aggression a bit. Also, the weight is really not that bad. I think the gallstones attributed to the discomfort and now that it's gone, almost a non-issue. Took her out last night at a musicians bday epic jam session and it aboslutely killed! First time hearing it in the mix w/drums, guitars, horns, keys, percussions etc. and it was more than enough to convince me that it should go nowhere... Had the pleasure of hearing several bass players play it too and just WOW! That MTD clarity, punch, depth, attack and of course unforgiving nature sold me. So happy thought I'd share with y'all... Thanks!

That's good to hear. Sometimes a bass needs to be given a bit of a chance! :)

BINGO, really silly of me to make such a hasty decision w/out hearing it's capabilities on a band/mix setting. I'm embarassed just writing this, shoulda known better and now I do (WHACK! - just smacked myself upside my head) and well deserved may i add...

For me the worst is when it's the opposite: the bass sounds great at home but get it on a gig and it just doesn't cut it. That has to be one of the most disappointing feelings. Anyway, glad you're happy with your bass cause she's a beauty!
