The Official MTD USA Thread

$1699 for a 410 cab? W'ouch!:( Does it play the gig for you? Can't you bi-amp them or something so they sound like 2 separate 410 cabs in one :D.
Yeah, the DIST cabs sound really nice, pretty similar to their older UL2 line, but they're crazy expensive because they do "true" 4 and 8 ohm operation due to some super expensive highly custom dual coil speakers.

Personally, I don't think I could justify the cost for the relatively small practical benefit. I tested a couple of the earlier models subjectively and it was hard to tell much difference switching from 8 to 4 ohms. Just further evidence to what I always say that it's generally more about adding drivers instead of power if you want to get louder.

I couldn't agree more. After year of playing with high power amps and cabs. I came to the realization. If you truly want loud....add more drivers. High power into a lower amount I drivers will gain you some benefit. But it is minimal. All in all, not great news for your back. Lol

That's my opinion too. I just bought an American MTD AG 5, #12, and love it to death. I also have the Epifani UL 902c and the Epifani UL 410 S2, which is his rig.

Nice! I just got the (Kingston) AG6 from Glenn. I am loving this instrument (my first 6). We'll have to meet up in Bensalem and compare.

For those of you in the Philly area, Glenn Marrazzo at Bass Specialties has a couple sweet US 535s in the shop, one used and one new (no, the consignment one is not mine!). He has current pics up at Link Removed.

I had some mango for breakfast this morn. Kind of doesn't seem as exciting, though...

I'm also still going nuts over olive wood right now. I have yet to see an olive top that doesn't make me want to sell a kidney.

I wasn't too keen on mango as a top wood when I first started seeing it but it began to grow on me - especially after seeing some samples from Mike's stock of spalted mango:

I have to admit that there's a bit of a sentimental connection for me where mango is concerned. Some musicians/friends from Trinidad and Granada had a very strong influence on me musically-speaking from when I fist started to play bass. They played mostly calypso and soca and when I think of mangoes and mango trees I think of those styles of music (and of Lord Kitchener singing about getting his foot stuck in a mango root while dodging ghosts in a cemetery :))...

I tried to play the one you bought, but I can't play six string basses. I have played both of the MTD's at Bass Specialties, and they are both killer axes.

The 535s are sweet. As for your AG, that definately brings some pizzaz to the London Bridge scene! Your Skjold is nice as well...
