The Official MTD USA Thread

Hi....

I hate to write this but unfortunatelly I must sell my beloved MTD. Next week I will ship it to a buyer so I really don't fell to be the MTD CLUB member #1. Well at least I founded something "important" on Talkbass.

Keep your love for those incredible basses. Major causes costed me to take this sad decision.

So the Club member #1 is vacant now and I'm not giving "membership numbers" anymore!

Bye

When I used to run clubs, numbers were permanently assigned... if you fell away from the brand, you're simply "alumni" at that point.

My thinking is, since the clubs don't really mean much other than novelty and signature fodder, I just didn't think it was worth "managing" numbers like that.

FWIW anyway.

I should have gotten mine last week, but since I want a custom preamp (adding passive tone), Bill Bartolini has to make a custom preamp (cool...) for me, and it should be at Mike's shop today.

Expected delivery on friday...

Can't wait

That's nice! Hope Mike offers active/passive option in his standard option. The only thing I'd like to have on my MTD is passive tone & bypass option.

Probably not going to happen.

Mike's custom bart pickups are very low impedance, which means also very low output, which is why there's a separate gain function for them in the elex. They essentially have to be thought of as "active" pickups, but with an external active component.

Now... if you spec'd a bass with different pickups, then you may have that option, but you'd have to talk to Mike about that.

Mike asked me if besides the Passive tone, would I like a passive/active switch (push-pull knob), but since I know that the MTD Pickups have low gain with no onboard-pre, I opted not to, besides, if I have an Active Bass, I always left them Active, so don't need the switch anyways.

But if you personally want one, and wondering if Mike offers that on a Custom Made MTD, the answer is yes, but you must ask him, and if the passive option will be any use or not, considering the pickup gain, that's up to you and how you expect/use it.

What do you guys think of my live rig? ImageUploadedByTalkBass1363390472.105578.jpg

Spoke with Glenn from Austin Bass Traders last night to get some more info on a 535-24 that has me doubled over in GAS pains...

He's very informative and made me feel completely at ease with my lack of MTD characteristics...I went on the good word of various TB'ers and if I do make the jump, it will only be through Glenn

:-)

Killer MTD! I've never bought anything from Glenn but I did correspond with him via email. Super helpful guy and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend his services. :)
