The Official MTD USA Thread

My Super 5 is ash neck, BEM board, no inserts, but has quite a compressed sound. Go figure.

Speaking of my Super 5, if anyone has a Super 6 that they wish was a 5, I am thinking about making a switch...Buckeye/Ash, BEM/Ash. Mint. Won't actually make any moves until I feel like going to the UPS store isn't a risk anymore. :rollno:

I had a super 5 as well. (with no rods) I think the pickup positioning just lends itself to that more modern/compressed sound

Hi team!!

Hope this is ok to share here.

Just wanted to share this new collaborative video project I'm involved in, featuring some of Aus's finest musicians. All in the name of keep music alive during this strange time we find ourselves in.

Hope you all enjoy, this is our take on No One Emotion by George Benson. Playing my MTD534 here, all recorded through my Line6 Helix.

Check it :)

Love it! Of course the guitarist felt the need to switch guitars in mid-song for his solo. He was really good though. No complaints for you!

Any and all? What’s going on here? :)

I was originally searching for a 6 either a super 6 or 635/634. But then I got to thinking I could restring a 5 with a high C. So I’m on the search now for a good looking 5 or 6. Most I have found available are out of the country, which is what lead me to asking the group here. I’m not sure what shipping and customs is looking like right now. Here in NJ we are locked down and will be for another month it seems.

Kind of a vague question, but I’ve been so used to the idea of a Precision bass run through a boost/OD pedal into a tube amp playing rock for so long, do any of you MTD players do the same? They certainly are beautiful instruments.

I have a maple neck/board P bass and a wenge neck/board MTD 535. Love them both. When playing rock live, I'll frequently use the 535 with the neck pickup favored or soloed. In the mix, it sounds (to me) like a big, angry P bass. MTD also makes Fender-style instruments; here's one that I like:

Agreed on favoring the neck pickup and I too do this often- Its exquisite. I would think the reverse P pickup configuration in the Bartolini soapbars must lend to this.

I asked for this myself a couple pages ago and there were no examples given/available, so here you go - first super quick, direct test right after installing Bartolini Classic Bass dual coils in my 535. Same riffs played with parallel wiring and with single coil config, but with the neck pickup flipped upside down to make the two humcanceling coils both bridge-facing. This is the M55CBC model. I'm using the stock Bart buffer that's a normal part of the MTD circuit on these basses as well.

I don't dig the parallel wiring sounds at all, but the single coil sounds great.
