Unless you want to make use of the EQ on the U5 (I pretty much never do) I think you’d be just as well off with a Radial JDI or something similar. Great sound at a fraction of the price of a U5 - and they’re much easier to carry around.

Back in the Days of "MySpace" ... I made several "Badges" for Mike ...... I was kinda' hopin' that "Cracker Jack" might make them a Collectors Prize and include one in every box.... like Micky Mantle in the Bubble Gum packages ....but they passed. Bummer.
I began working as a Tobias Rep and AR guy before our Hair turned to Silver and wearing Ties was acceptable.

My second Grew on a Tree in the Front Yard. I just went out and Picked it when it Blossomed. The tiny piece of Denim you see is an "Official MTD Jacket". I'll try to find a pic of one of those. You'll Salivate. LOL. I have one that I'll Sell Ya or Trade Straight up for a MTD Bass if you're a Wee Being and on Mind Altering Substances. I THINK it's a Size Medium.....

Version 1 of MTD Carhart Denim Jackets was VERY Cool......a Simple Logo. Unknown to me was the fact that there's a Lawnmower Company called MTD. After the 157th Inquiry as to my affiliation with said Lawnmower Manufacturer we moved into Version 2.0......with Woodstock added cuz it's only a Stone's throw from Kingston.
I haven't seen it mentioned here, did you know Dave Holland is playing an MTD on his latest recording "Another Land"?

I wonder if that’s the same bass that I saw Dave pick up from Mike during one of my visits to the shop. It looked to be a hollow-body/acoustic kind of thing.
It sure is a distinctive sound. I suspect he may be playing more than one on this recording.
FWIW the time on some of these tunes is off the charts. Even when they're on 4 they screw around with it..
When these guys hear "24/7" they don't think hours, they play it.

Placed Gently on the Golden Fleece of the "Yasgur Lamb" ....lost during the Original Woodstock Concert....but still used today at the Shop for the Final Blessing before each MTD is Shipped. All Kneel when looking at the Golden Fleece please.

I heard we’re doing a four-string thing today 
Would be really curious what Dave Holland is playing on that record for e. bass. It has none of the top end that I associate with MTD (which is why I don't play MTD). It sounds big and round in a spectacular way.
