The Official Rumblekat Club

I tried LaBella Flats once, lasted about ten minutes. Two strings sounded completely dead, I always kink my strings so I'm pretty sure it wasn't me but what do I know.

Have you tried String Joy rounds? They are from Nashville, I love mine.
Labellas I find are hit and miss, biggest problem to me is some sets the E string is just tonally out of balance if that makes sense. My favrorite strings have been TI JR324's but they wont fit this bass, so thanks for the Stringjoy Recommendation, ordered a set will try them out

So finally got all the parts and finished it. Mods are
Neck pickup Seymour Duncan SM 1n, Middle pickup Seymour Duncan SM 3b, Hipshot Ultralite Tuners HB6Y 3/8, Hipshot Supertone Bridge. Sounds really good got the clarity and punch I wanted. Especially the neck, so much better.

What strings are you using? I’m quite surprised with the stock pickups on mine with just a short time with it, but am generally one to swap out pickups on most instruments to increase clarity. I’m curious how much of your improvement is from the pickups vs the bridge? Also how close your setup was when swapping the bridge and pickups? A little drop in action can increase the perceived clarity quite a bit in my experience.

Yes did a lot of adjustments before, I replaced the Middle pickup and bridge same time, so can’t definitely say pickup or bridge, but much clearer now. The neck pickup I can say a ton of difference, so much clearer, Kind of rickenbacker like, very satisfied

Still trying strings out, lots of recommendations here, currently D’Addario EXL 220 s nickel roundwounds
Those seem like the best set of rounds readily available that will work with the stock bridge. I’m on the hunt for a used Hipshot at the moment and will probably wait to swap strings til I find one

Cool- my main basses are Rickenbackers so that is definitely my reference. I imagined potentially modding my Rumblekat to put in a Rick toaster pickup, but if I can get reasonable clarity with a humbucker I’ll stick with them. Those Duncan pickups actually look like they could be the same as the Duncan Rickenbacker neck pickup

I originally looked at Ric pickups, but it seemed like some differences in size, the SD minis use bar mags so no string spacing issues, really excited how it turned out far exceeded my expectations
