It's sad that a luthier could disrespect the first ever bass guitar in such a way.

Fender P basses are used by everybody because they are simply damn good instruments that are reasonably priced. I'd rather spend 1000 pounds on a standard P bass that i know is reliable and roadworthy than spend 10,000 on custom Luthier built bass that i probably would never be able to take out to gigs for fear of it being damaged.

I have played many a fancy bass. They are okay, I like them enough, and I still have a few. But a great p bass thumping away is just American! Finally put the finishing touches on this one.

These basses are no where near as upscale or boutique as some that I have seen on this post. However, they are still nice, they sound great and, most importantly, they all belong to me.

From left to right: Squier Jazz Bass, ESP LTD B-404, Epiphone Thunderbird IV - Goth Black, Ibanez BTB400QM HS, and my Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar HB

So after resurrecting my bass, it looks like this.

The old pickguard which was white originally, went black, and some fail black again that
chipped and covered it up with stickers until I found a solution, which ultimately destroyed
the pickguard and I got this nice tortoise one.

It isn't a perfect fit because this pickguard is made for original Fenders, and my bass is a german copy.
(Tenson, if anyone heard about it. I already talked about my bass in an earlier post but meh, I gues no one gave it a "looker".)

I got Jazz bass knobs for it, because the chromed ones which I had didn't have indications and I really use the tone knob.
Indications help. In my case at least. Yes.

By the way, I am planning to buy an SX Jazz. I heard they have quite the reputation. Until I get some dough to buy some
cool sounding basses, I have to stick to a somewhat low budget. Is SX the way ?

-* I have no idea if that pickup cover is a jazz bass or pbass pickup cover.
