My latest de-fret project:

New custom pick guards from WD Music in FL

Dark red pearl on my 4003 version 2023 10th week. Also got a dark blue pearl when I want to switch it up!

Sterling by Music Man RAY35 in a purple sparkle. Replaced the gloss black pick guard with a black sparkle one. Very Prince like.

All had to be traced on paper and custom cut. Everything lined up perfect with exception of filing the neck pocket of the 4003. Minor adjustment really.

I have to say, Ricks are generally not my favourite "look" for bass . . . BUT . . . that black with the Red tort is beautiful. Verrry nice. Changes my opinion. Beautiful job.

Agreed Rickenbackers are a bit of an oddity in terms of looks and features. Nothing else sounds or looks like them though. With the dark red pearl it gives the bass more of a unique identity now!

So I went to Guitar Center to buy a new 25' cable. I like their Livewire Elite series. Lifetime warranty and they are right down the street. The problem is when you go to the store you have to look at the bass guitars. You can't avoid it. And that's when I saw this rascal:

I picked it up and it played like butter. The neck is lightning fast. The headstock is gorgeous, 6 bolt neck, binding, gorgeous inlays on a rosewood fingerboard, and a flame maple top. I could not resist.

So my 5-string Ibanez had to hit the road. 9 basses is the house rule. It had 16.5 mm string spacing and I really like 18 mm. I just didn't play it anymore. I only kept it because it was so pretty. That's the problem when you live on your looks. There is always someone prettier that comes along. Meet my new crush.

This bass is going to get played at lot.

I've played a few of their Omen and PT Series guitars and was impressed with how smoothly they played. I can imagine how nice their basses must play too.
