I actually think this design would be superior to the standard saddle set screws. The additional contact between the saddle and this flange should enhance the vibration transmission. The same reasoning is used in the Babicz bridge design.

Would be hard to quantify, but anything's possible.

First off, - that's a great example of a beautiful bass. I remember the catalogs from then - great stuff to look at for sure.

Bass Bridges - IMO - I've been playing 50+ years and went thru a lifetime of mods. I've had basses with every new version bridge (including The Brass Age, BAI, BAII, Gotoh, Hipshot eg etc) as it came out.

Bass Bridges remind me of mousetraps - every design level of basic/complexity has been and is addressed enough (so far). Enough to warrant a museum devoted to their design. Personally, if you can't find a bridge to suit you at this point, design it yourself or hammer in some nails.

Personal favorites: love the Schaller 463 Roller Bridge; I do like Babicz full contact.

Best Overall - Fender '62 Threaded Saddle Bass Bridge Allows for string to string spacing, you can adjust everything with a screwdriver. I put these on several builds.

I understand the fascination with complex designs. It's the engine that keeps all the "sharks"* swimming forever.

* - keep re-inventing something that's already as efficient as it gets. Sharks (and alligators/crocodiles) have not changed for millions of years.
We can make it different but you won't make it much better!!!!

Massive length magnets in this one, GFB. Knowing your long association with Fenders, would you say there's any sort of noticeable output/tone differences? (Unless of course the windings aren't as tall as say a 60's Jazz p/u)

I wish I could remember exactly which CS pickup those are. I want to say CS62 but might be wrong...I've had them 10 or more years and got them from someone else. Look like the ones in my AC sig Jazz. They sound reeeaaallly good and it's 60's spacing on this bass. It's a bitsa...an old 60's Classic body and bridge and a Highway One (2010) neck/tuners. Just a great bass all around.

ESP makes quality basses - my (ESP subsidiary) Grass Roots Bass IV won me over. It was the sub-label version of the late '90s ESP Tetsu signature model Bass IV, which design-wise was based on the '60s Fender VI baritone bass guitar.
