Leo typically gets his props as an inventor, but a P Bass like that shows what an incredible artist he was. Everything about the look, feel, and sound are indicative of a perfect work of art. And to think how supremely functional it is just blows my mind.

I did some gear trading and acquired a killer Benavente that's been hidden away for years

It's a new bass day for me, but I'm a little mixed on it so far. Action is a bit high, and I don't have a truss rod tool (or a skinny/angled socket) for the kind it has. And I'm not sure about the electronics. I'll include a shot of the wiring cavity and see if anyone thinks it's original or modded. It's a PRS Kingfisher SE.

I have one of these as my number 1. I had to buy the truss rod tool, Seymour Duncan SSB-4 pickups, and a Bartolini preamp, but now it kicks butt. Best action of any bass I own (10).

Thanks. I saw your posts and the mods is some previous Kingfisher threads. Enough that I started looking at SSB-4s before it arrived. Did you change the pots, too. and know if standard CTS pot will fit in the routing?

At first, I changed the wiring, the pots, and the pickups. At that point, it was awesome. But I could not leave well enough alone. And I opted for the two band Bartolini preamp. If you are a passive guy, you won't need the preamp.

A little Marty Bell for this rainy day

This is partly a TB bass , original blonde 50s p Ash I think from here and the roadworn neck back when we could snag them cheap. Resolites. KTS bridge. Super light. Refin by Mr. Bell, Duncan ‘60s pride , sealed pots, pure tone jack. You never know what you’re gonna get but this bass is absolutely incredible and was even before it went to Marty but that’s why I picked it. Pours one out for Gods Favorite
