These replaced my 2 4-strings(fretted annd fretless) and a 35” scale Lakland 5. All GC used finds within the last 2 months. The J and MM were local and unexpected, they just felt so good I went back for them within a couple days to buy em. I was looking for a P5 and having once owned a Kingston, I really liked the necks, so I went for it over an FSO, had it shipped, and am not disappointed.
Never had the classic 3 all at once before. I’m really happy to have them all, esp in 5-strings!

It's a three layer process. Top layer is clear acrylic - top side gloss, under side matte. Next layer is a thin translucent swirl plastic that I (also) bought at Tap Plastic here in SF. The bottom layer is very thin mylar. The very thin 'chrome' mylar helps carry reflective light through the swirl plastic. Tap Plastic sells the translucent swirl plastic in pearl white, red, & blue.
This shows the three layers using the translucent pearl white swirl plastic - note how the mylar enhances the translucent swirl plastic sheet
I gleaned the idea from my '68 (Dano made) Coral Deluxe Bass.
The CDB swirl plastic is painted silver on the underside - the clear acrylic is yellowed from age.

Just got the first bass on the right this week. a 2015 Carlo (Carl Pedigo)
The second from right was acquired a couple weeks ago. A Bluesman Vintage El Dorado 5 PJ
Third is a Mad Man Music Jazz w/ neck
Fourth is a Mad Man Music P
Fifth is 2024 Stingray HH (Blingray)
Sixth is another Mad Man Music P
Seventh is the oldest in the stable, a Warmoth Gecko 5 string

NBD - Doodcraft guitars made a body and did some neck work with a extra legator neck I had. This thing is so rad. Turner multi coil pickups and a lustihand preamp.
I always wanted to be able to and this builder sells stuff that speaks to me at unreal prices. I’ve talked to him and I think he builds “for the love of the game,” so to speak, which is why I play too.
