Spalted maple body, pale moon ebony inlays/TR cover?My new 32" USA Spector NS-2
Yes, Swamp Ash body, spalted Maple top, pale moon Ebony inlays and Truss cover. I had asked for spalted Maple inlays and Truss cover but they said the Spalted Maple is too brittle and hard to work with for inlays, so pale moon Ebony was the next best thing and they did a good job at matching the color tone.
Thank you! It was a custom order but it only took 5 months for completion. It is noce that they started offering 30" & 32" scales from the custom shop.

Road Worn 50s P? I recocgnize that neck since I have the same one in my parts P bass. I came accross it used for a decent price and it's currently on my -78 Precision which had it's original neck warped beyond repair. It's incredibly comfortable even though it's very chunky. I pair it with light gauge Thomastiks and it's stupid good!

I just scored this 76 Jazz bass in the classifieds from a local guy.
Drop dead MINT, and all original.
The seller was a great guy to work with.
I was disappointed when I first saw it, as it had flats. I'm a round wound guy.
I took it to my local shop that I use for setups and repairs for a string change and setup.
This bass is a beast
I'm getting used to the Jazz neck. I'm one of the few that normally put a P neck on a J bass.
I'm normally a P player, but the current band I'm in requires more of a J vibe.
This one is a keeper. And this bass WILL be gigged. Not a closet queen

Picked up the Jazz today. Now all I "need" is a fretless.
Go for one with a blank board, dots in the right places, built to be a fretless. Then you will be complete.

Yes, I'm not a daily 5-string player, but made myself one because it seemed "necessary". It's active and I have/play both active & passive basses - primarily 4-stingers.And then a 5er, an active one and… you dare to call you a bassist without a Stingray or a Rick?

Never played a 5, or a 6. Never touched a fretless until 8 months ago and now cursing myself that I didn't pick one up years ago. Perhaps someone will put a 5 in my hands when I'm on my deathbed and I'll realize then, too late, what I missed?
I tried going the five route and it just wasn't for me. I am very comfortable being a four string guy.
IMHO it’s a matter of how are you feeling with the 5th string… If you reach that groove and mojo playing it.
For me, no 5er can beat a solid 4-string J or P bass (in that order) yet.
