Ok, so this blonde/ash jazz I assembled developed a twist in its neck, so I slapped a random fiesta red neck I had on it. Kind of ugly but works. I FINALLY got around to ordering another neck today. Basically a vintage jazz bass spec neck but now the neck will be quartersawn, huzzah!

This is a very cool bass. I installed duncan antiquities, and with the Labella IMA super polished strings it just roars. Almost sounds like a spector or something, very lively sound. Just sustains forever, I keep it in Eb tuning.

In all the years I’ve been playing, I’ve never owned a jazz. First 25 years I played a music man. Last 10 years I’ve been on a P kick. Suddenly jazz basses are calling my name….well couldn’t be happier with these 2 beauties! And a jazz with no pickguard just seems so right.

A ‘22 Dan Lakin and an ‘83 Fullerton Reissue. Somehow both jazz basses came with flats on them. The Fullerton has been defretted but I’ll likely get her refretted.

When I have to play a Fender, I prefer J to P. Those look inviting.

I like the neck

I don’t smoke.. tobacy. Stupid fender. Amazing neck.
Out of all the 'relicing' effects, that one isn't one I would do. When I lived in Chicago in the 80s I played in blues bars. One didn't need to smoke as everyone in the audience was and I'd come home smelling like an ashtray. My '66 P was professionally played by a guy in Portland but luckily he wasn't a smoker.

Eddie smoked but he would never wedge his ciggy at the hs as he loved his guitars and kept them looking pristine.
