Phil Kubicki re-aligned w/Fender for a couple years in the late 80's early 90's via his active preamp & Factor bass. Fender CS produced his Factor w/their 9v preamp version and also installed the pre in the Stu Hamm Urge (1st Fender bass tribute model), J Plus and a few others. Part of both Kubicki and Fender history.

Jazz copy. Finish takes forever. I ended up putting it together because I had to play it, but will need to tear it back down to do one more flatten wetsand and buff. I did the p last year, still need to tear it down and do a final sand and buff. John east jretro deluxe pre, nordstrand nj4se pups, vintage usa fender tuners and bridge, adjustable brass nut. Mahogany body, maple neck, pvc binding, spalted maple top on headstock and body, pearloid vintage white block inlay same layout as my marcus japanese. Truss rod is standard fender style on the jazz, butt adjustment under fretboard install on the pbass.

Just the three basses for me. Two in this picture, and my friend's Gibson Les Paul Studio. Sorry for the bad quality, it's night time here and my iPad camera doesn't work well in artificial light.

My Jazz Bass is quite a lot bigger than the Stagg BC300 on the left, but they're both full size basses. Missing my Squier Affinity P-Bass from this photo, that one lives at school.

Ok, a couple additional mods since the last post on this one. I've added a tort (TORT!) pick guard, Hipshot A Style bridge, and I've done a full setup on her (.025 relief with 1/16" string height) and even though I'm a Jazz guy, I may grow to like this Precision bass yet! She has a really nice punch to her with the EMG GZR and the Chromes are finally starting to get the sheen worn off. Thank you for looking!

EDIT: Just noticed I need to move my D string over a notch. Also, sorry for the crappy pic quality. Oh, and the dirty carpet. I should really replace that or get it deep cleaned. :D

My "parts" bass that I use when flatwounds are preferred. 1977 Ibanez neck (a little chunky, the way it should be), a Stew-Mac body from the late 1990's, newly installed Seymour SPB-1 (which replaced SPB-2 that I used for over 15 years) and a Tonestyler in place of the tone knob. Foam rubber was something I found lying around... Such a simple piece of gear, yet so nearly perfect. Amp is an early 70's Fender Musicmaster Bass amp, with 12 watts of tubey goodness. I used it as a monitor in an orchestra pit in the picture shown. Not a great sound, but I don't like carrying heavy objects. :laugh:
