Newest version of my parts PJ. Put a 2006 MIM P neck on the Squier Walnut Satin PJ body. Dimarzio PJ setup (came with black covers, I put one cream and one white), gotoh 201.

I have the same PJ PUPs and activ electronic config from MEC on my old Fender. (you can see the pic above)
The J pickup has a rather low output compared to the P pickup. I would say 30% J and 70% P, when balance is flat.
I basically like the sound of the MEC´s. Because of the balance issue I tend to renew them, if it´s worth it.
Do you have the same issue with your 2016 model?

too poor a sod to be able to afford his creations.

tigerwood top, ash back and neck-through all rosewood neck.
delano pickup and cinnamon preamp.
schaller tuner and hipshot bridge.

it's not much but it's all I have.

I have to ask....if you can't afford Rick Toone's design how much was this to have custom made? Did you make it? It is gorgeous.

Yes I actually keep it blended 100% to the P pickup for that reason. Although mine is not as bad maybe 60/40 on the output. The J probably just needs to be closer to the strings.

I had my friend help built it for me.
the parts are all 2nd hand purchases or trade deals except the tuners.
all in all I probably spent close to 1k including hardcase.
of course it doesn't have the details nor intricacies of the real thing and I will not pretend it is the real thing.
but i'm happy my plucking hand no longer hurts from excessive wrist-bending and arm resting at sharp angle.
playing sitting down is now an absolute joy too.
