Love that bass! Would really like to feel that neck. How does it compare to other Rick necks you’ve tried?

The neck is super thin on this one. It's thinner than any I've encountered personally, but I can't say I've held tons of 'em. Definitely thinner than the 4001 I once owned and my 4003.

Yeah. I have since gotten rid of that amp and cabs. 61 years old, I don't lug those heavy things too well.

We've got a little GK amp that is the perfect cure for these huge amps and cabs, it packs a lot of punch for its tiny size.

Very nice. It was somewhere in 1972 when Rickenbacker stopped making the 4000's with the neck through. I've talked to a couple of guys who worked there at the time (in another forum) and they didn't know why that decision was made. The 4001S basses made in that time period were also set-neck models.

I’m glad they did! I’ve played and owned bunches of Rick basses over the years,and the set neck ones have their own special thing.

I feel you... I used to keep a white Epi 355, on a stand in the living room... attracted like moths to a flame, I had it hanging (the guitar... ), out of reach, within a couple of days...

with a 3 way for selector , but as it is I freakin love it , I cannot believe it took me all these years to try this setup .

oh the J is a '99 Seymour Duncan ( Made by ESP ) somewhere I have the headstock pic , Fender shaped . Amazing J though .

It is! It's my Apostate body style. It has passive EMG humbuckers, passive controls, 34" scale, and .041-.136 Kalium strings, spaced 19mm at the bridge. The body is Peruvian walnut and Honduran mahogany, and the neck is a 5 piece Hard maple and Peruvian walnut lamination with an Indian rosewood fingerboard.

I really like that body shape!
