It doesn’t play well with others and won’t be upstaged by a guitar solo.
1973 Fender Precision Bass that I bought from King James Music in ‘74 ( it was new old stock).
It was my first real bass.
The body, neck, tuning machines, the string tree, and the rear neck plate are original - everything else is added.
I shaved the neck after removing the finish and soaked it in MinWax antique oil finish about 8 times.
The cavity under the pick guard is routed out.
The pick guard is a very heavy brass piece.
The bridge is brass as well as the knobs.
The wiring is Belden 8451 shielded single pair.
The controls are Allen Bradley from 1971-3
The switches are 1970’s Alco-Switch DPST.
The split P/U is an original Dimarzio Model P from 1977-78 (Pat. Pend.).
The rear pickup is a 1973 Gibson EB3 treble position.
The control setup is Vol. / Vol.
The switches are wired as:
Dimarzio: series/parallel Gibson: In/Out of phase.

Nice collection! What's the hollowbody longhorn? I've never seen one of those before.
It's a 1968 Coral Danelectro body that was made in Japan. They used it to make guitars I believe but it was right when Dano went out of business . There were a few of the unused bodies that made their way into project guitars and basses. Mine was built by a guy that used to work at Subway Guitars in Berkeley, CA.

'l got this Body on Here as a NOS P-Lyte, 'But The Body is a NOS Fender Jazz Bass Special* Body" and Weigh's in at 3'lbs 3'0z. So anyway' l Built it, as a, Player Bass, as l will use it in, My Next Project' we been working on,, used these parts, Badass Bridge, S/D 1/4 lbs., Jazz Neck, Gold Hardware, Japan 250K large Pots, & knobs that go to 11, "Most all of the Parts' l got on TalkBass" and Thanks to All 'who gave the great Deals on this Build,

Nice, but so very foreign to me. What do they sound like? How do they play? What are those lipstick pups like? The one with the F holes and trapeze tail piece is sweet!
The bass solo on The Who's "My Generation" was recorded with one (4) of those. At the time (pre Rotosound) they were the only bass available with roundwounds strings stock. Entwistle kept braking the strings while trying to record that song and kept buying the basses from the Silvertone distributor in Hamburg (although they were recording in Blighty) and I believe he went through four basses to finish the recording..
Listen to the album "Elephant Mountain" by the Youngbloods- all bass tracks on a Dano. Listen to Youtube vids of the Traveling Wilburys- Petty plays a Dano on most. Listen to "White Room" by Cream. Listen to almost all NRBQ -all Dano. Listen to "Radar Love"-Dano.
All my basses are fast and light. Easy to play and sound spectacular. On my Aguilar Tone Hammer 350 w/ my 2x15" cab, with eyes closed I promise you could not tell me I was playing short scale under 6 pound basses.
Really surprised about 'White Room' I listen to a lot of Cream and figured it was all Gibson EB-3. No idea he played a Dano on that track.
