Got my latest bass, a Kiesel JB4 on the left. It came setup the way I like it, low action without fret buzz. It plays like butter and sounds great. Workmanship is flawless as well. You can't see it in the picture, but the neck and headstock are finished in birdseye maple.
I think I would go for the g&l cause that neck pickup may sound closer to a p-sound than the j-bass cause you definitely got the jazz sounds you need. But nothing else sounds like a p like a p does. That series switch on the neck pickup may be the ticket. IMO

I love acoustics, Have you ever seen what dmytri Lisenko can do percussively on an acoustic. I wish I still had mine. I’d put some flats on it.
