this is the year of the spontaneous combustion p/g's I saved it though
yeah those things disintegrate on their own when locked up in the case . The paint , glues and materials used had a chem reaction . When it was first opened it looked like the bass had caught on fire and also grew fur .This reaction usually destroys the pickup but I was very lucky . I don't have a pic of that mess but it looked like this.

Both of my basses that I currently own. Top is a Dean, unknown what model it is exactly as of yet. Sounds awesome, plays awesome. Currently has DR Black Beauties.
Bottom is a Squier VM Jazz. Modified with Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders and a new tone pot. Also threw on Fender Knobs (currently being held on by cardboard shims). Currently has DR Hi-Beams.

2006-2008 Fender Jazz Bass CIJ Geddy Lee Sig ($600) (progression to the Geddy: Sold Ibanez SR 250, rolled into Squier Satin Pewter Jazz Bass, sold, rolled into a Squire MusicMaster ( bought for a bargain and sold for great profit!) bought new Sire V7, sold for a $50 loss, bought a Gibson 5123B Hollow Body rolled for a small profit but enough to get to $600 for the Geddy. Love finding used basses that need some lovin'!
